CDOLING TOWER FOR DRY COOLING E' HT'COEE.'
Application le `Yllecemeer 28, 1921K. Serial No.
To ll whom t may concem.-
Be it known that li, ARNOLD Mon'rrnm, u citizen of Switzerland, residing' at and whose post-olice address is Oberwinterthur,
-Remerstrasse 21, ,'Switzerland, have invented certain new and useful Im rovemensts in Cooling Towers for Dry ooling of Het Coke, for which I have filed application in Switzerland, filed Jan. 3, 1921; Germany, filed June 20, 1921, of which the following is a specification.
rlhe present invention relates to a cooling tower for dry cooling of hot coke, to which the latter is conveyed by means o buckets over a chute. The buckets eect automatically the removal of the mouth of the chute from the opening of rthe receptacle or chamber as well as the closing again of the cooling receptacle, by means of a lever actuated by said buckets during the charging operation and of a movable mouth piece of said chute connted with said lever and a sealing hood for the receptacle 'likewise connected' with said lever, .25 while said buckets also eect the opening of the recepita/cle previous to dumping as well as the introducing of the mouth of said chute into the opening of the receptacle, `and after the dumping is finished the removal of the mouth piece of said chute from the opening. By introducing the mouth piece of the chute into the opening of the receptacleV the dumping height is rcduoed and. in consequence a breaking of the coke is prevented, and for the purpose of preventing the loss of heat the charging operation is accelerated on account of the automatic movements.
A mode of construction of the invention i0 is illusrated in the drawings.
a is a cooling chamber or receptacle for coke, known per se, having the charging opening b the discharge funnel c and the hood d closing the charging opening. e is a bucket provided ,with rollers f which can 'p be lifted by means of the hoisting device g along the rails k of U-shaped cross-section and bent at the top. While the lower rollers f run along the-outside of the mid rails h, the upper rollers engage the este@ of said r .i is a chute and k an extensible mouthp1ece thereof. The latter is connected by means of the rope l to one end of the lever 'n pivoted at m, while the other end of the 55 lerver n is connected with the hood d by means of the rope p passing over the rollers o. i
By means of the buckets e and the truck gthe hot coke is conveyed from the distillation plant to the cooling tower. Then the said bucket is hoi by ns of the hoist g whereby the former meets the lever n close to its upper position. "lhe lever is then turned to such an extent that it will @5 lift the hood d from the ptace and cause the mouth-piece k 1 the chute to slide into fthe charginpening of the said cooling receptacle. il lng its further upward movement the buct 1s ti een? known manner whereupon the co e drop over the chute z' and i'ts piece le into the cooling chber.
After the dumping is ished the bucket is again lowered on the truckg by the hoisting device. The lever a is thereby pushed back into its initial position simultaneously withdrag 1.; piece k of the chute from the una; b again and lowe the hood d until it again closes the charging opening t.
liner-der to 't z. '.1 an air-tight seal oi the chamber, the hood d drops i a circuiar chl containing a liquid and surrounding said t. if the pressure within the cham n` incrthe hood may be raised which .f -f= taneously the prssire in the :um and the outside air.
