IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED LUNG-PROTECTORS AND UNDERVESTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 146,879, dated January 27, 1874; application filed December 1, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Mrs. JANE CULVER, of Adrian, in the county of Lenawee and State of Michigan, have invented an Improvement in LungProtectors, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of this invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in the article worn by many persons with weak lungs, commonly called lung protectors and it consists in so constructing the same that it may be easily retained in place; that one size will, by means of elastic fastening-s, fitpersons of difl'erent sizes. and so that it will also take the place of and be used as an undcrvest.
Figure 1 is a perspective View of my device taken from the side provided with fastenings. Fig. 2 is a similar view taken from the opposite side.

a and upon the same side by means of elastic )ands b, while the opposite side is provided with elastic straps c to engage with buttons (1, and the shoulder-pieces are provided with elastic loops and but-tons e, to secure the garment made to be suspended from the neck in frontof the chest, without backs, and with no way of securing them to the body. The back should be as much protected as the chest, and this device furnishes a perfect garmeiiit for that purpose.

As a new article of manufacture, the combined undcrvest and lung-protector, provided with front A, back 13, and belt G, when the parts are constructed, arranged, and secured together, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
