T E S I ARTHUR E. ROPE, OF BROOKLYN, YORK.
POSTAGE-STAMP-CASE CA1.
Application filed. August 16, 1922. Serial No. 582,246.-
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ARTHUR E. ROPE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in a Postage-Stamp-Case Cap, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates tostamp holders for mounting on fountain pens or the like.
The postal system established at the present time being extremely efficient and of great value to commercial enterprises has brought the postage stamp into very general use. Business men, in order to dispatch letters promptly, find it necessary to carry postage stamps. However, in' carrying postage stamps it is necessary to provide a case of some kind which will protect the stamps from the heat of the body which would otherwise stick them together and thus destroy them. It is in order to provide one of these cases that the inventor has directed his energies.
The general object of this invention is the provision of a cheap, simple and eflicient postage stamp holder which may be mounted on a pen or the like.
This object is accomplished by provid ing a casing a'nd mounting in the casing a standard which may be hollow to serve as a pen cap, and providing in conjunction with the casing and the standard a cap adapted for engagement with the standard and for closing the casing. If the standard is not hollow to serve as a pen cap means is provided in conjunction with the casing for mounting the stamp holder on a pen or pen cap.
This and other objects of the invention will be more clearly understood from the following detailed description and accompanying drawings, of which Figure 1 is a vertical section through the postage stamp holder showing it mounted on a pen;
Figure 2 is a section on the line 22, Figure 1' Figure 3 is a section through a modified form of the postage stamp holder, showing it mounted on a pen cap;
Figure 4 is a section along the line -H, F igure 3;
Figure 5 is a View of the cap shown in Fig. 1;
Figure 6 is a View of the holder shown in Fig. 3. Referring to the above-mentioned drawings, a pen 10 of the ordinary type is shown. A casing 11 is attached to the lower end of a hollow standard 12. In this case the hollow standard forms a cap for the pen 10. The-casing 11 being mounted concentric with the standard 12 and spaced a distance therefrom an annular opening 13 is formed about the standard. Stamps 14: may be rolled to form a hollow cylinder, which may be fitted over the standard 12. A threaded band 15 18 attached to the upper end of the standard 12. Engaging with this threaded band is a projection 17 formed integral with the casing cap 16 which closes the upper end of the casing, retaining the stamps 14: in position on the standard. This device is retained in position on the pen by means of the hollow cylinder 12 engaging with the pen barrel of the pen 10.
Referring to the modification shown in Figure 8, the standard 12 is not hollow but is formed integral with the casing 11. In this case a depending collar 18 is formed on the lower end of the casing 11 for mounting it on the pen cap 19 of the pen 10.
This device is very convenient for use in that it may be mounted on a pen or may be carried independent of the pen. In order to obtain the stamps for use, the cap 16 is removed, and by inverting the casing the postage stamp stamps may be projected out of the same.
I would state in conclusion that While the illustrated examples constitute practical embodiments of my invention I do not limit myself strictly to the exact details herein illustrated since manifestly the same can be considerably varied without departing from the spirit of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
Claims:
1. A stamp carrier, comprising a pen cap, a central post in the cap having a screwthreaded socket on its outer end, said post and easing forming an annular chamber for stamps, the wall of the casing being shorter than the stamps whereby the stamps project above the casing, a cup fitting the outer end of the casin and a, threaded lug 10cated centrally in t e cap and engaging in the socket of the post.
2. A stamp carrier, comprismg a. pen cap, a central post in the cap having a screwthreaded socket on its outer end, said post and easing forming an 'annular chamber for stamps, the Wall of the casing being shorter than the stamps whereby the stamps project above the casing, a cap fitting the outer end of the casin and a threaded lug located centrally in t e cap and engaging in the socket of the post, said post and inner )01'- tion of the caslng having a longitudinal re adapted to receive the end of a 11 therein.
ARTHUR ROPE.
