Be it knoivn that l, AsBJonN SoNsri-rAG-EN, a subject of the King of Norway.. residing in Essex7 England, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Machines for Folding Paper, of Which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in and relating to paper folding machines and it has for its object to provide a machine designed more particularly for folding paper to form dividing strips for use in packing chocolates and other sweetmeats, provision being `made whereby the Width of the folded paper may be varied as desired.
The strips, When folded, may be of l. or U shaped cross-sectional outline and provision is made for cutting same the desired length.

Referring to t-he accompanying dra-Wings l indicates a table or bed supported upon a foot or pedestal 2X. Securedto the upper surface of table l are brackets supporting a spindle 2 upon vWhichis mounted a roller 3. The spindle 2 has secured to it at its inner end a disc 2a formed of or faced with some suitable material or composition adapted to provide a good @ripping surface for a second Wheel secured toashaft 5,provided With fast and loose pulleys and carried in bearings 6, said shaft being arranged at a right angle to spindle 2. rlhe spindle 2 is slidable in its bearings and it has at its outer end a recess in which is placed a steel ball engaging a recess in the end of a lever 7 pivotally mounted inv a bracket 8 disposed upon the side of the. table 1. 'ihe other end of lever 'l' has formed upon it a stud engaging the interior of one end of a coiled spring l0 the opposite end of said spring engaging a stud upon a hand lever l1 moving over a plate l2 in which are provided a series of holes arranged upon a curved line having as its centre the fulcrum of the lever ll the hand lever permitting the disc 2a to be engaged With the Wheel with varying degrees of pressur I a pin or other device being provided for securing the lever l1 in its adjusted position.
The Wheel l is also adjustable across the face of the disc 2a so that the speed of the roller 3, by which the paper is drawn through the machine, may be varied as desired.
Co-operating with the roller Sis a second roller 3a carried in a bracket 13 disposed upon the underside of table l in which an opening 13a is formed through which roller 3 projects. i
The bracket i3 comprises two side members having extending between them a part 13b perforated for the passage of a stud 14 by means of Which and nut l5 the said bracket is secured in position. ln order to adjust the pressure of roller 3 against roller 3a the bracket i3 at its outer end is prov'ded With a cross-member i6 of circular cross-sec tion, which part engages slots formed on the end of an inverted U-shaped bracket also secured to the undersurfice of table l. The bracket 13 is thus capable of a radial movement permitting' the aforesaid adjustment to be effected. Y
As alread;7 stated the driving friction disc l is adjustable across the face of the disc 2a and in order that this adjustment may be effected there is provided a screwed spindle l5 supported bv the aforementioned brackets and liaving at one end a milled head 15b. Mounted upon the spindle 15a is a substantially inverted U-shaped body 18 the limbs of which engage between collars formed upon the boss of disc si.. By this means when the spindle 15a is rotated in one or other direction a corresponding movement is imparted to disc 4 With the result that Vthe speed at which the paper is fed throughthe machine is retarded or eccellerated.
