Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE JOHN D. MCANULTY, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN TOY ATTACHMENTS FOR CHILDRENS CARRIAGES.
Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 155,251, dated September 22, 1874; application filed August 22, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN D. MOANULTY, of the city and county of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Toy, of which the following is a specification:
My invention consists of a little contrivance of apparatus whereby two dancing and one revolvingA gure may be operated for the amusement of children While riding in a childs carriage, the apparatus being attached to the front of the carriage and the mechanism geared With one ofthe Wheels of the carriage by abelt.
Figure l is a front elevation of the apparatus; and Fig. 2 is a side elevation, together with a side elevation of a portion of a childs carriage in dotted lines, showing the mode of applying it.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is a little shelf or table, which is attached to the front portion of the carriage-body B by a bracket, C, or in any other approved manner, with a double crank-shaft, E, under it, in brackets or hangers F, on which shaft is a grooved pulley, H, by which it is turned by a belt, I, which is to run on a pulley on one' of the carriage-Wheels, to be operated thereby. The crank-shaft has two connecting-rods, J, passing up through the table, for Working the dancing gures Which are to be connected to them. It also turns a vertical shaft, K, by the bevel-Wheels L', for operating agure to be attached to the upper end above the table, for revolving said figure.
This contrivance is very simple and cheap, and, it is believed, will alford a very pleasing toy for small children.
Havingthus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- Atoy attachment for childrens carriages, consisting of a table, A C, provided with crankshaft E, connecting-rods J, and geared revolving shaft K, arranged to be operated by connection with the running parts of' the carriage, substantially as and for the purpose described.
JOHN D. MGANULTY.
