This invention relates to toys and in particular to toys of the noise emitting variety.

A particular object of my invention is to provide a toy made in simulation of an aircraft and having a propeller which is propelled by the movement of a siren disk to which it is attached, the siren disk emitting the noise when the instrument is blown upon.

19 A further object of my invention is to provide a device of the character referred to which is in the nature of a musical instrument and is fashioned after the noise emitting instrument commonly termed a kazoo.

Through the medium of my invention, the instrument is made in imitation of an airplane, its appearance enhanced and its appeal to youths increased by reason of its simulation of an aircraft.

With the foregoing and other objects in view, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in thecombination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed may be made Within the scope of what is claimed without 0 departing from the spirit of the invention.

Figure 1 is a view in perspective of a musical instrument of the character referred to constructed in accordance with my invention, the siren disk bein illustrated at the mouthpiece end of the evice while the propeller is illustrated at the opposite end, the body portion being provided with wings in simulation of an airplane.

Figure 3 is an enlarged view in front elevation of the instrument showing, the siren disk through the medium of which the sound is emitted from the instrument.

Referring to the drawing in detail, 5 indicates the body of the toy which is preferably made of metal and of substantially cigar shape, the body being hollow and being provided with an opening 6 in its top through which extends, a flare spout 7 from which emits the sound produced by the instrument. The spout 7 may be rovided with a flange 8 through the me ium of which it is secured in place in the opening 6 in any suitable manner.

The body 5 may be cast or otherwise shaped to provide the horizontally extending wing 9 which are in simulation of the wings of an air craft and are positioned at the opposite sides of the body 5 slightly above the center line so that thebalanced appearance ofthe instrument is maintained.

The front or mouthpiece 10 of the body 5 is closed through the medium of the cap 11 which is preferably formed integrally with the body 5 and is provided with segmental openings 12 for the purpose of emitting air to act upon the blade 13 of the siren disk 14 which is revolvably mounted on the; propeller shaft 15. The propeller shaft extends longitudinally through the center of the body 5 and at its forward end is journalle'd in the capll and at its rear end passes out through and is journalled in the rear wall 16 of the body 5 which forms a closure for the body and beyond which on the shaft 15 is mounted the propeller 17 15.0 which is secured to the shaft 15 in any suitable manner. The forward end of the shaft 15 beyond the front closure 11 may be provided with rivet heads 18 to prevent displacement of the shaft.

It will be noted that the spout 7 flares outwardly adjacent its exit end so that the sound emitting from the device is scattered as in the usual art. The wings 9 may be made separately and secured in any suitable 9O manner to the body 5. The siren disk is of the usual type and consists of the segments 19 which, in cooperation with the open sections 12 of the closure 11, emit a siren sound which is conveyed through the body of the instrument and passes out through the spout 7. The air, in passing in through the segmental opening 12 will rapidly revolve the siren disk 14 and with it also the prowe peller shaft 15 and the propeller being secured thereto at the rear end of the device will be caused to rapidly revolve and by its own momentum will be continued to revolve for some little time after the instrument has been removed from the mouth of the blower- If desired, the wings may be painted to include some well known airplane insignia and the body may be further painted or decorated to simulate the body of an airplane.

It is evident, therefore, that I have provided a musical instrument in the nature of a toy which, being made insimulation-of an airplane will be more attractive and will add to the amusement of the young-asa noise emittingv toy.

It is also evident that I have provided a noise emitting toy which has few parts, may

bemade at. small cost andwwhich, by reason of its simulation of-an aircraft, will appeal to young-people.

\Vhile I have illustrated and described my 7 invention with some degree of particularity,

I realize that in practice various alterations therein maybe made without departing from the. spirit of the invention or thescope of the appended claim.

What I claim is .A toy comprising a hollow cylindrical body, a noise emitting spout in the body, a siren disk, a propeller, a shaft on which said disk and propeller are mounted, said body being provided with openings cooperating with said siren disk to produce a sound when air is forced through said opening, and

wings on said body.
