IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED PENCIL SHARPENEEEROTECTOR. AND ERASERI Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 184,123, dated November 7, 1876, application filed September 9, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANDREW WILsoN, of the city and county of Providence, Rhode Island, have invented a newand Improved Combined Pencil Sharpener and Protector,
Paper-Gutter, and Eraser, of which the following is a specification 1 l igure 1 is a side elevation. Fig. 2 is a side elevation, in part section; and Fig. 3 is a top view.
My invention consists in the combination, in a compact and convenient instrument, of a pencil-sharpener, a pencilprotector, a paper and twine cutter, and an eraser.
A is a casting, which, in its general appearance,resen1blesa human hand grasping acone, a, and having theindex-linger extended. The cone to is hollow,'and has a section removed from one side. 9, which is rounded at its outer end, and graduated so that a small portion only of the blade projects beyond the'metal that supports it at the outer end. The portion of the blade near the cone is made concave for cutting twine. The outer end is intended for cutting paper of different thicknesses. The arm of the casting is bored and threaded at h, for receiving the point of the pencil, which it protects.
The advantages claimed for this instrument are, that it comprises in one piece live separate devices that are useful and convenient.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A compound instrument, having a pencil ANDREW WILSON.
