5 Claims.
This invention relates to an improved attachment or accessory for a display stand such as is used in store windows for advertising wearing apparel and garments, particularly feminine wear.
Specifically stated the attachment is in the nature of a form or adaptor unit constructed to be adjustably mounted on the standard of a conventional display stand and fashioned to facilitate constricting and shaping the waist portion of a dress to give the desired blouse effect.
In perfecting a structure to satisfactorily accomplish the desired result I have evolved and produced a simple and economical device characterized by a vertically adjustable block like body equipped with pin receptive inserts or cushions to facilitate shaping the garment.
Other features and advantages will become more readily apparent from the following description and drawings.
In the drawings:
Figure l is an elevational view showing the improved attachment in operative position on a conventional display stand.
Figure 2 is an enlarged elevational view of the attachment per se.
Figure 3 is a top plan or edge elevation of the structure shown in Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a perspective view of one of the cork inserts.
In the drawings in Figure 1 the display stand comprises a pedestal or base 5 having an upright or standard 6 and an appropriate head forming a hanger '7 at the upper end of the standard for supporting the dress or garment 8. The improved attachment 9 is adapted to be adjustably mounted on the standard 6 for shaping the waist line 10 of the garment.
The attachment comprises a substantially oval shaped or block like body 11 of appropriate material. The end portions 12 are rounded in the manner shown and slightly tapered. The central solid portion 13 is formed at its lower end with a depending neck 14 carrying a set screw 15. The threaded end of the set screw projects into a bore 16 which is formed through the neck and portion 13 to permit the adaptor unit or form to be adjustably mounted on the standard. Obviously it is held in vertically adjusted position through the instrumentality of the set screw. The numerals 17 designate undercut faces which define a pair of pockets or receptacles for wedge shaped blocks of cork or the like 18. The inner walls of the pockets are substantially flat, so that the pockets conform with the fiat contour of the body. The blocks 18 function as inserts and are give the desired shape or configuration to the surrounding portion of the garment. The pockets extend into the upper and lower edges of the body 11 thereby providing openings to enable the blocks 18 to be inserted or removed.
The gist of the invention is in the provision of a simple and economical form or adaptor unit in the nature of an attachment for a conventional display stand, the idea being to provide a construction which is applicable to the stand to function as an additive feature to facilitate a proper forming or shaping of the garment for more effective display purposes. A block like body with the cushion insert and means for adjustably mounting it on the standard has been found satisfactory to fulfill the expected requirements of the invention.
A careful consideration of the foregoing description in conjunction with the illustrative drawings will enable the reader to obtain a clear understanding of the purpose, features and advantages, the explicit construction, and the invention as hereinafter claimed.
It is to be understood that minor changes in shape, size, relative proportions, and materials may be resorted to in practice Without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the invention as now claimed.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:
1. In a structure of the class described, in combination, a display stand embodying a base, a standard rising from said base, a garment hanger on the upper end of the standard and means on the standard for vertical adjustment to facilitate shaping of the waist portion of a dress or similar garment, said means being vertically adjustable relative to the garment hanger, and provided with pin pierceable means to facilitate maintenance of the bloused shape of the garment.
2. A structure of the class described, in combination, a display stand comprising a base, a standard rising from said base, garment hanger means on the upper end of said standard, an adaptor element mounted on the intermediate portion of the standard and vertically adjustable, said adaptor element comprising an elongated 10.; flat body formed on at least one face with pockets and pin pierceable inserts located in said pockets to function as pin cushions.
3. As a new article of manufacture, a display stand attachment comprising an adaptor unit embodying a horizontally elongated body formed at its center with a bore for passage of the standard of the display stand, a set screw associated with said bore for maintaining the body in place, one face of the body being provided with pockets open at their upper and lower ends and having end walls undercut to provide insert retaining pockets, and wedge shaped pin pierceable inserts arranged in said pockets to function as pin cushions.
4. As a new article of manufacture, a display stand attachment comprising a relatively flat adapter body for cooperatively supporting the waist portion of a garment, said body having a socket forming means adapted for slidable attachment to a standard of the display stand, said body formed with pockets conforming to the flat contour of the body, said pockets being located on at least one face of the body, pin pierceable material seated in said pockets, and means coacting with said socket forming means adapted for securing said body to the standard of the display stand.
5. As a new article of manufacture, a display stand attachment comprising a relatively flat horizontally elongated adapter body for cooperatively supporting the waist portion of a garment, said body having socket forming means adapted for slidable attachment to a standard of the display stand, said body formed with pockets on at least one face and open on at least one edge of the body, pin pierceable material seated in said pockets, and means coacting with the said socket forming means adapted for securing said body to the standard of the display stand.
