TABLE FIXTURE Filed April 24, 1955 6 B Y I,
Patented Mar. 5, 1935 TABLE FIXTURE Henry E. Brunhofl', Wyoming, Ohio, assignor to The Brunhofl Manufacturing Company, Cincinnati, Ohio, a corporation of Ohio Application April 24, 1933, Serial No. 667,513
1 Claim. 211-74) This invention relates to a combined smokers tray and tumbler service rack or fixture for tables,
ledges, and the like, formed of sheet metal and Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved smokers tray and tumbler service rack or fixture shown as applied to a corner of a table, the corner section of the table being shown in dot and dash lines.
Figure 2 is a section on line 2-2, Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a section on line 3-3, Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a perspective view of slightly-modified form of fixture.
The combined tray and rack is preferably constructed of sheet metal and adapted to be secured to the corner of'either a round or square cornered table and is particularly adaptable for card table service, although it can be applied to the arms of chairs or ledges of any sort.
Referring to the drawing, 1 indicates a sheet metal bracket frame for engagement with and securance to the corner of a table or ledge either round or square and consists-of a plane base or horizontal tray portion 2 for overlying the top of the table or ledge and provided with a circular embossment or ridge 3 as .the confines for an ash tray set therein as shown in dot and dash lines,
Figure 1. A portion of the embossment or ridge 3 forms a rounded margin or edge for the inner end of the base, adding to the appearance of the device. 1
A pair of side walls 4-4 at right angles to each other and to the base, with which they are integral, extend downwardly therefrom to overlie the corner edges of the ledge or table corner to which the fixture is secured. Each side wall 4, at its lower end, is provided with an inturned flange .5 to underlie the table or ledge, and the flanges at the corner of the fixture overlap each other .and are spot welded or otherwise secured together for tying the walls against lateral spread or displacement.
A bracket plate 6 of approximately triangular outline or configuration is respectively secured to the under side of each flange extending horizontally outwardly therefrom for supporting a dish or circular tray 7 stamped from sheet metal rigidly secured to the plate preferably by spotwelding, and positioned relatively centrally of the side wall for sustaining a glass or tumbler. A
A match box or match book holder 9 consisting of a piece of rectangular sheet metal bent into U form, with the opposite ends curved inward and thence downward, provides a pair of outwardly disposed limbs for receiving a match box therebetween, while the body structure of the holder is adapted to be telescopically engaged into a rectangular tube or slide cover of a match box. The match holder is secured to the corner of the fixture and projects slightly therebeyond in line radially with the axis of the ash tray support of the fixture and between the tumbler holders thereof.
The fixture is clamped to a corner of a table or ledge by one or a pair of clamp screws 10 respectively screw-threaded to a bracket plate 6 of a tumbler holder and inturned flange of a side wall, a double thickness of material being sufi'icient for screw-threading.
The structure of the fixture is very simple, rigid and attractive in design, fitting to either a round or square cornered table, serving two sides of the table. In the modification shown in Figure 4, a single bracket plate 6 secured to the inturned fianges of the side walls 4-4, provides a common support or base for both tumbler holders and has two circular embossments or ridges 11 respectively in registry with the superposed guard rings 8. The intermediate portion of the support carries a rectangular casing 12 as a receptacle for holding a deck of cards or other articles and the front wall of the casing has a. tongue 13 of hook form for holding a match book.
Having described my invention, I claim;
A serving fixture as an article of manufacture,
comprising, a sheet metal bracket having a horizontal body portion and providing a tray upon its upper surface, extensions at adjoining edges of said body portion respectively bent at an angle thereto, forming depending side walls atan angle to each other, each extension terminating with an inturned flange in parallelism with the body portion and provided with a clamp screw for securingthe fixture to a support, and bracket plates respectively extending horizontally outwardfrom said flanges, each providing a tray adjacent its corresponding side wall and below the' plane of
