IMPROVEMENT IN FEED-COOKERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 200,515, dated February 19, 1878; application filed November 26, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, ANDREW G. OUN- N1NGHAM, JOHN WINHOFER, and Row. M. RICE, of Keota, in the county of Keokuk, and in the State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Feed-Cookers and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, refer ence being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked I thereon, making a part of this specification.

A represents the outside vessel, made in cylindrical form,with a conical top,B. Within this vessel is the furnace G, which is made circular in form and flat at the top and bottom.
From one side of the furnace extends the fire-door D through the side of the vessel A. From the center of the top of the furnace ex-' tends a pipe, E, with square elbow, through the side of the vessel A, and is there soldered water-tight, and constructed to receive an elbow for carrying off the smoke.
In the center of the conical top B is the water-inlet H; and on the sides of the same are two nozzles, G G, for the attachment of hose, to conduct steam to any desired point. Irepresents a safety-valve arranged in the top B.
The furnace is set up from the bottomof the vessel A, as shown, which gives the water free access to all parts of the furnace, thus giving the largest possible heating-surface.
It will be noticed that our smoke-pipe starts from the center at the top of the fire-box, and then turns at an angle, and passes out at the side of the machine, thereby saving all the heat inside of the water.
Having thus fully described our invention,
what we claim as new, and desire to secure' by Letters Patent, is-
The within-described feed-steamer, consisting of the vessel A, with conical top B, having water-inlet H, nozzles G, and safety-valve I, and the furnace 0, having central opening on top, and the smoke-exit E, consisting of an elbow-pipe connected to the central opening on top of the furnace, and extended through the side of the casing, and the fire-door D, all constructed substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth. v
