In practicing my invention, I provide a valve assembly 5 comprising a housing 6 fashioned with i an upper externally threaded cylindrical section l and a lower skirt section 8. The upper section 1 is threaded into a valve casing?! of a faucet ID of ordinary construction, the latter being equipped with an intake passage H and ,a discharge passage |2 separated from said intake" passage by means of the usual wall l3 having a communicating opening l4 formed therethrough. It is obvious that the invention is not confined to the herein described use therefor as it may 40 be utilized for any purpose to which itis adaptable. It is therefore to be understood that the invention is, not limited to the specific construc tion as illustrated and described, as the same is,
only illustrative of the principles of operation 5 which are capable of extended application. in ad .van'ce forms, and that the invention compre hends all construction within the scope of the ap- WhatI claim is: p 50 In a valve of the type having an inlet andv outlet separated by a seatand a chamberoutwardly of saidseatand having a lateral port and extending therefrom a cylindrical bore, a replaceable valve unit adapted for arrangement in said bore by threading therein, said unit comprising, a valve housing having integrally formed upper and lower sections, said upper section being exteriorly threaded and adapted for :atight-threaded fit with said bore and adapted to extend between the upper and lower ends of said bore and superjacent said chamber whereby to form a seal with the wall defining said bore to preclude seepage of liquid from said chamber upwardly within said bore, said lower section adapted to be positioned solely within said chamber and fashioned with an open bottom and an apertured side for cooperation with said lateral port, said lower section formed with radially extending and to provide a valve seat for said valve, a valve member arranged within said lower section for movement therein and formed with ears slidabl'y operable in said slots and coacting with the walls defining said slots to preclude rotation of said valve member relative to said housing and said seat member, said housing fashioned with a lengthwise bore having upper and lower end portions with the upper end portion of a larger diameter than the lower end portion and defining therebetween a shoulder, a valve stem having a lower end rotatably mounted in said lower end portion of said lengthwise bore and fashioned with a collar superjacent said lower end and seated on said shoulder for precluding downward movement of said stem relative to said housing, and means connecting said stem to said valve member whereby upon rotation of said stem axial movement of said valve member is efiected with respect to said replaceable Valve seat for controlling communication between said inlet and outlet.
