My invention'relates to manifolding stationery and more particularly to a device for providing continuous reloading of manifolding machines with stationery whereby reloading of the machine or attachment is accomplished without disconnecting or otherwise manipulating the manifolding device. .This invention is especially useful in providing continuous reloading of manifolding machines such as autographic registers,
billing machines, addressographs, typewriters, and attachments therefor.
It is an object of this invention to devise a fastening means for attaching the last set of manifold paper'sheets to the leading edge of a new pack of manifold paper forms whereby the machine is kept continuously loaded.
Another object of this invention is to provide a novel continuation sticker for attaching the abutting ends of sheets or webs as used in manifolding machines whereby the leading edge of a succeeding set of paper passing through the machine.
Another object is to provide a pack of fanfolded continuous webs of manifold stationery with or without carbon sheet removably interleaved therebetween, wherein the leading and trailing edge of the web is feathered and whereby it can be readily other pack of fan-folded stationery papers so that continuous operation of the machine can be effected.
Another object is to devise a perforated fastening means which is adapted for use in securing the abutting ends of manifold sheets to a succeeding set of manifold papers whereby a continuous web of manifold papers is provided for maintaining the manifolding machine loaded with stationery.`

In the operation of manifolding devices, herey tofore, it has been necessary to reload the machine at intervals when the stationary sheet being used becomes exhausted. This requires the opening of a register or manifolding device and rethreading a portion of the manifold papers comprising the new pack and adjusting the machine to bring the manifold paper forms in accurate alignment and adjustment so that the machine can be operated properly. This invention eliminates the necessity of reloading the manifolding machine in this manner arid provides for continuous reloading of the manifolding machine with stationery without opening the register or machine. y
Referring to Figs. l and 2, there is illustrated superimposed manifold paper sheets I5 positioned over writing plate I6 in an autographic register generally designated I8. The manifold paper sheets comprise the spaced forms 20 and are moved transversely of the carbon sheet means 22 which are interleaved between the manifold paper sheets I 5. Perforated or weakened sections 23 are provided between the spaced forms 20 as shown in Fig. 1.
As illustrated in Fig.` 1, the sheet portion 25 forms the end portion oi' the manifold paper y sheet of one set of forms and the manifold sheet portion 26 comprises the leading manifold sheet portion of a new fan-folded pack designated 28. For attaching the form sheet 25 to the new pack 26,there is provided a double V-shaped sticker means 30 having its broad ends 3l and 32 attached to manifold sheet portions 25 and 26, respectively. The sticker is provided with a perforated or weakened central section 34 whereby the manifold sheet forms 25 and 26 can be readily separated after use.
In order toprevent interference of the sticker with the carbon sheets 22 when the manifold paper webs I5 are moved over the carbon sheets, the edges of the sticker are chamfered as show n at 36. In this way, the paper sheet attaching means 3|) can readily pass across the carbon sheet 22 without catching on the edges of the carbon paper and wrinkling or tearing the same. It will be appreciated that the ends of the manifold paper sheets 25 and 26 will be abutted together, aligned and fastened by means of the sticker 30 so that upon operation of the machine no adjustment of the manifold paper sheets relative to the writing plate is necessary.
In the modified fastening means, as illustrated in Fig. 3, a narrow adhesive strip or tape 38 is provided which extends across the width of the 'paper sheets. The edges 39 and'40 are beveled similarly as shown at 36 in Fig. 2 so that the joint will readily pass over the carbon sheets 22 when operated in the register device as .illustrated in Fig. 1. In this instance, the attaching provided with central perforations 4I so that theadjacent forms 25 and 26 .can be readily detached from each other.
In the modification shown in' Fig.'.4, the manifold sheet 43 comprises a perforated section 44 and an extended portion 46 which is beveled and provided with adhesive 41 so as to receive 4the beveled portion 48 of the sheet 50' which forms the leading edge of a new set of manifold papers. In this instance, the manifold stationary sheet forms will be provided during manufacture with l sheets 43 and 50 ` fold paper sheets 43 and 50 are united by dovetailing the leading edge 5| of the sheet 50 and inserting it into the split portion 52 of the sheet' 43, the sections 5| and 52 being fastened together by means of adhesive or other suitable material.
In Fig. 6, both ends of the manifold sheets 43 and 50 are split 'so as to receive the perforated double wedged sheet adhesive strip 55 wherebythe different sheets are fastened together, providing a smooth joint.
In Fig. l"I, the superimposed manifold paper sheet form 43 comprises the perforated section 44 and an extending portion 51 which is crimped in such a way as to receive the vleading edge of the manifold sheet paper 50 and be adhesively united thereto to form a continuous sheet having no projecting surfaces which would contact the edges of the carbon paper sheet 22 to interfere with the proper operation of the manifold machine.
In the manifold fastening means illustrated in Fig. 8, an adhesive strip 59 is utilized for uniting the abutting ends in the manifold paper similarly as shown in Fig. 3. Perforations 60 in attachingstrip means 59 permit` ready attachment of the manifold papers during use. In this instance, a continuous carbon sheet is interleaved between the manifold paper sheets 43 and 50. Use is preferably made of Scotch tape which is perforated and positioned over the abutting sheets 43 and 50 to unite them firmly together. This method of'attaching the end of the manifold sheet paper with a new pack can be accomplished without preforming or otherwise machining the ends of the sheets forming the pack of stationery.
In Fig. 9, there is illustrated the use of a preformed sticker 62 which is adapted to be positioned around the edges of the manifold paper sheet forms 43 and 50 so as to fasten the ends of the sheets together.' as heretofore described. The sticker, as shown in Figs. 11 and 12 preferably comprises a rectangular shaped member having creased sections or folds 64, notched end portions 65, perforations 66, and central open section 61. The adhesive material 69 is placed on the underside as shown in Figs. l1 and l2 whereby the sticker -can be wetted and attached around the edges of the abutted ends of the sheets 43 and 50 and adhesively secured to the same as shown in Fig. 9. The notched portions 65 and perforations with the opening between the sheets so that after writing upon the forms 43 and 50, they can be easily separated. In order to prevent the corners of the sticker 62 `from engaging the carbon paper sheets 22 or otherwise interfering with the operation of the machine during passage of the manifold webs through the machine, they are beveled as shown at 1li.4 Where the manifold stationery comprises a single web having multiple copy sheet forms detachably secured to one side of the continuous web at spaced intervals as shown in Fig. 10, the end of the pack sheet form 12 may be united to the leading sheet portion 13 of the newpack by bringing the sheets together and pasting the stickers 62 adjacent the 66 will be in registrationv like may be provided for manifolding device. By passing the fastening member around the edges of the superimposed manifold sheets as shown in Fig. 9 so as to secure together the top and bottom manifold papers, it is unnecessary to fasten the abutting inner superimposed lsheets together as he whole web moves as a unit when the top and bottom sheets are held together. It will be understood such as clips, pins, paper that other suitable means,
stapling means and the fastening the last sheet of paper forms to the first portion of the succeeding set of manifold paper forms.
It will further be understood that the paper sheets will be fastened after they have been properly 'aligned and abutted together so that it will not be necessary lto change the predetermined setting of the manifolding device fonqadvancing the manifold papers a predetermined.. distance after each writing so that the succeeding' form is brought in position over the writing plate of the device. f
It will further be understood that this inven-j tion is not limited .to the particular means described for providing a continuous reloading of manifold stationery in machines of this character and that such modifications as may be necessary to adapt it to varying conditions and uses are within the scope of this invention.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1.- As an article of manufacture, a member for attaching manifold papers together in abutting engagement comprising a sticker means having its broad ends attached to respective sheets which are to be secured together, said sticker having a perforated secondary portion in registration with the opening formed by the abutting edges of said sheets whereby said sheets can be readily detached.

Asan article of manufacture, an attaching means for fastening the last set of manifold papers to a succeeding set of manifold paper forms comprising a'foldable strip having a central weakened section, adhesive material on one side of 'said fastening means for adhering the paper sheets together, said fastening means having chamfered edges and adapted to be separated along a weakened section to provide for the detachment of the sheets.
4. As an article ofmanufacture, an attaching means for fastening the" last set of manifold forms comprising a foldable. strip having a cen' means on said fastening means for detachably securing said sheets together, said fastening means having beveled edges and adapted to be separated along a weaks ened section to provide for the detachment of the manifold paper sheet forms.
5. As an article of fastening member for detachably securing the ends of one set of manifold paper sheet forms to another set, said member comprising a double v-shaped adhesive tab having the v-shaped por-f tions united at their apexes to form a readily separable tab for adhesively uniting the ends of manifold paper sheet forms.
6.
