The invention relates to drawing frames for spinning machines and particularly to leather tape drawing frames, in which a drawing guide is disposed between the feed rollers and the delivery rollers.
In drawing frames two guide rails have been arranged before the delivery rollers between which rails the slubbing passes. In instances where a lower leather tape is used it has been proposed, to run the tape over the lower guide rail. Thus the drawing guide is pressed from above against the lower leather tape, the member acting only as a braking element and is hingedly suspended, so that it cannot be moved into different positions while maintaining pressure upon the slubbing. Tape drawing frames with upper leather tape and lower leather tape are further known, in which however the slubbing is subjected to an increased pressure at the reversing point of the tapes owing to the stiffness and adjustable within the range of the passage points forming the drawing guide, whereby the drawing frame can adapt itself to slivers of different condensation, different kinds of fibres and different lengths of fibres.
A further object of the invention is, to arrange the rails which form the drawing guide, mutually adjustable so that one rail can be adjusted relative to the other rail in the direction in which the slubbing passes. A free movability of one rail relative to the other is provided so that the displacement of the rail in the passing direction takes place automatically. In this manner an automatic adaptation of the passing distance, that is an automatic alteration of the distance between the elements of the drawing guide on the one hand and of the delivery rollers on the other the advantage that the upper rail is shifted automatically more or less towards the delivery rollers of the drawing frame by increasing the pressure exerted upon this rail. As required either the upper rail serving as pressure plate can be movable and the lower rail stationary or inversely.
Other characteristics of the invention and their advantages will be pointed out in the following description.
Figs. 1 and 2 each show a double tape drawing frame in side elevation, the elements forming the guide of the drawing frame being shown in different positions.
Fig. 3 shows a form of construction only slightly modified in which the drawing frame containing the guiding is combined with a preparatory drafting section and a condenser section.
Fig. 4 shows the drawing frame in Fig. 3 in top plan view the upper leather tape being omitted.
In the drawing frame shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the pair of feed rollers is designated I, I, the pair of delivery rollers 2, II. A passage located between the two pairs of rollers is formed by two flat rails 3, 4. These rails serve as reversing rails for two leather tapes 5, 6 passing over the feed rollers I, I and form the drawing guide for the slubbing. In this arrangement the lower revers ing rail 3 is rigidly fixed in the machine frame but the upper'reversing rail 4 is movably arranged. Horizontal pins I, 8 projecting from each side of the upper reversing rail 4 engage over pins 9 that are hook-shaped at their upper end and fixed at the right and left sides of the upper surface of the lower rail. The pins 1, 8 are spaced at such a distance one from the other that the upper rail 4, in the direction in which the slubbing passes, has some clearance on the upright pins 9. In the upper rail 4, at a point between two drafting sections a pull hook I0 is provided which cooperates with a loading device such as, for instance, a weight or a spring. In the embodiment illustrated the lower end of the pull hook I0 is connected to a band spring II which is mounted by means of a spring carrier l 2 on an adjusting shaft I3. Several band springs II of adjacent drafting sections can be mounted on shaft I3, so that by turning this shaft the tension of all the spring will be regulated.
In the position of the elements shown in Fig. 1 the spring II is untensioned. The upper rail 4 is therefore not additionally loaded. When the feed rollers I, I revolve in the direction of the arrows the tape 6 has a tendency to lift the running off edge of rail 4 until the pin I of the rail engages in the angle of the pins 9. The horizontal pins 8 are then at a distance from the vertical pins 9 as the upper leather tape at the same time tends to move the rail 4 in the direction towards the upper feed roller I. In this position the rail 4 exerts pressure on the leather tape 6. At the same time the rail is lifted at the outlet end. so
that the pressure on the slubbing decreases between the leather tapes from the inlet point to the outlet point.
In the position shown in Fig. 2 the spring II is under tension as the shaft I3 has been turned in the direction of the arrow, the upper rail being therefore loaded. The result is, that the rail 4 is pulled downward and rests fully on the leather tape 6. If the loading is strong enough, the rail 4 is drawn along by the friction of the upper tape 6, until the pins 8 of this rail strike against the hooked pins 9. The rail 4 is therefore moved In the drawing frame shown in Figs. 3 and 4 the feed rollers of the drafting section are designated I, I and the delivery rollers 2", II". Two flat rails I4 and I5 serve as reversing rails for the leather tapes I6, I6, the lower tape I6 being conducted from the reversing rail I4 downwardly over a stretching element II. A condenser section is in this instance provided behind the drafting section and is formed by the delivery rollers 2", II" of the drafting section, a funnel-shaped slubbing condenser I8, and an additional pair of delivery rollers 2", 11". The slubbing condenser I8 is movable on a rail I9 parallel to the axis of, the rollers. A preparatory drafting section, consisting of a pair of rollers I, I and the feed rollers 1, I of the main drafting section, is arranged before this main drafting section. At the inlet end of the drawing frame a feed funnel mounted on a rail 2| is provided so that it can move in the axial direction of the feed rollers I, I".
The slubbing 22 passes first through the feed funnel 20 and is delivered between the feed rollers I', I of the preparatory drafting section. The slubbing then passes into the drafting guide of the main drafting section formed by the leather tapes I6, I6 and the guide rails I4, I5. The rail I5 may be movably arranged similar to the rail 4 as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, and also have adjustable loading. Behind the delivery rollers 2, II the slubbing is held together by the slubbing condenser I8 and delivered in the form of a narrow band to the delivery rollers 2', II.
Under the lower rollers II, II of the condenser section I8 a clearing plate 23 is arranged on which the fibres collect which drop from the condenser section. These collected fibres from the delivery roller II are gathered to form a fibre tuft 24 which latter moves towards the downwardly running flight of the leather tape I6, which deflects the fibre tuft 24 downwardly so that it cannot wind around the delivery roller II. The feed funnel 20 is moved to and fro by its rail 2I in the direction of the arrow as usual. The condenser I8 is moved to and fro on rail I9 relative tothe funnel 20 in order that the slubbing 22 will enter the condenser I8 without engaging the edges of the condenser funnel.
The novel combination of a drafting section cooperating with the drawing guiding and a condenser section results in gathering and guiding of the slubbing so that the upper leather tape I 6' of Fig. 3 may be omitted, in which instance the upper rail I5 then forms a sliding runner directly in contact with the slubbing as shown in Fig. 4.
According to the character of the slubbing to be treated, and the strength of the drafting required, the main drafting section may be used which the slubbing moves, and cooperating stops on both rails for limiting the displacement of the movable rail relative to the other rail.

A drawing frame for spinning machines, comprising in combination a pair of feed rollers, a pair of delivery rollers, two flat rails forming a drafting guide said rails located between said feed rollers and said delivery rollers, a pair of leather tapes each of said tapes running over one of said feed rollers and over one of said rails, one of said rails being freely shiftable relative to the other rail in the direction in which the slubbing moves, and cooperating stops on both rails for limiting the displacement of the movable rail relative to the other rail.
3. A drawing frame for spinning machines, comprising in combination a pair of feed rollers, a pair of delivery rollers, two flat rails forming a drafting guide said rails located between said feed rollers and said delivery rollers, a leather tape running over said lower feed roller and said lower rail the upper of said rails being freely movable relative to the lower rail in the direction in which the slubbing moves as well as in vertical direction, cooperating stops on both rails for limiting the adjusting movement of said upper rail relative to said lower rail, and means for adjustably pressing on said upper rail against said lower rail.

A drawing frame for spinning machines, comprising in combination a pair of feed rollers, a pair of delivery rollers, two flat rails forming a drafting guide said rails located between said feed rollers and said delivery rollers, a pair of leather tapes each of said tapes running over one of said feed rollers and over one of said rails the upper of said rails being freely movable relative to the lower rail in the direction in which the slubbing moves as well as in vertical direction, cooperating stops on both rails for limiting the adjusting movement of said upper rail rela tive to said lower rail, and means for adjustably pressing On said .upper rail against said lower rail.

A drawing frame for spinning machines, comprising in combination a pair of feed rollers, a pair of delivery rollers, two fiat rails forming a drafting guide said rails located between said feed rollers and said delivery rollers, a leather tape running over said lower feed roller and said lower rail the upper of said rails being freely movable relative to the lower rail in the direction in which the slubbing moves as well as in vertical direction, cooperating stops on both rails for limiting the adjusting movement of said upper rail relative to said lower rail said stops on each end of said rails consisting of a hook uprightly fixed on said lower rail and of two horizontal pins projecting from the corresponding sides of said upper rail the distance between said pins being greater than the thickness of said hook,
and means for adjustably pressing said upper rail against said lower rail.

A drawing frame for spinning machines, comprising in combination a pair of feed rollers, a pair of delivery rollers, two flat rails forming a drafting guide said rails located between said feed rollersand said delivery rollers, a pair of leather tapes each of said tapes running over one of said feed rollers and over one of said rails the upper of said rails being freely movable relative to the lower rail in the direction in which the slubbing moves as well as in vertical direction, cooperating stops on both rails for limiting the adjusting movement of said upper rail relative to said lower rail said stops on each end of said rails consisting of a hook uprightly fixed on said lower rail and of two horizontal pins projecting from the corresponding sides of said upper rail the distance between said pins being greater than the thickness of said hook, and means for adjustably pressing said upper rail against said lower rail.

A drawing frame for spinning machines, comprising in combination a pair of feed rollers, a pair of delivery rollers, two flat rails forming a drafting guide said rails located between said feed rollers and said delivery rollers, a leather tape running over the lower one of said feed rollers and over the lower one of said rails, the upperof said rails being freely movable in vertical direction relative to the lower rail, a pull rod fixed at its upper end to the upper rail, a blade spring and an adjusting shaft, said blade at one end being fixed to the adjusting shaft to move therewith and at its opposite end movably connected to the opposite end of the pull rod.
