ARTIFICIAL FLOWER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 264,308, dated September 1'2, 1882. Application filed February 16, 1882. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J ULES LAMBERT, a citizen of France, and residing in the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Making Artificial Flowers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention pertains to artificial flowers in which the stems of the flowers are inserted in tubes attached to a foundation tube or cord for the purpose of making wreaths, &c.
Figure 1 represents a foundation-tube with branch tubes attached and a single flower-stem inserted. Fig. 2 represents a foundation-cord with branch tubes attached. Fig. 3 represents a foundation-wire with branch tubes attached and flower-stems inserted.
In the drawings, the cord or tube is shown atA as a foundation element to support the branch tubes, which areshown at B, and which are-tubes, of the usual form, of material required for such purposes, and into which the flowers or the stems of them are inserted, as in the ordinary process of making artificial flowers. These branch tubes B are attached to the cord or tube A by tying or looping them upon the foundation cord or tube, as shown at (J, by surrounding them with thread or a loop or knot to hold them in position. They may be applied in a separate form, or in 'pairs or triplets, or any other combination desired; but they are to be attached to a foundation cord or tube, and the insertion of the flowenstem into said branch tube forms the chief feature of my invention.
I therefore claim- As a new article of manufacture, the founda tion for a wreath of artificial flowers, consisting of a tube or cord provided with branched tubing applied to the sides of such foundation, into which the stems-of the flowers are inserted, as hereinbefore set forth.
