Description
April 25, 1961 Filed Nov. 16. 1959 INVENTOR.
ERSON nited States This invention relates to amusement devices and more particularly to a game of skill. I
It is an object of the present invention to provide a toss type game which may be a competitively played by young and old persons alike, which is extremely simple in construction, simple to play, and of extremely beneficial nature for improving dexterity.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a toss game of the above type which can be conveniently played indoors and outdoors alike, and which may be played by one or more persons as individuals or teams.
Other objects of the invention are to provide a game bearing the above objects in mind which is of simple construction, has a minimum number of parts, is inexpensive to manufacture and eficient in operation.
For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view, with parts broken away, of a game made in accordance with the present invention in actual use; 1
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the assembly shown in Figure l; and
Figure 3 is a bottom plan view of the assembly shown in Figure 2.
Referring now more in detail to the drawing, a game made in accordance with the present invention is shown to include a substantially pyramidal shape having three angularly related sides 12, 14, 16, the exterior of each such side being provided with identifying indicia 17 in the form of numbers. The bottom wall 18 of the base serves to rigidify the side walls thereof, and to enclose the innermost portions of three angularly related rods 20 having a center post 22 extending upwardly through the apex of the base. 7
The'uppermost extremity of the upright post 22 is provided with a safety ball -24 to, prevent injury to the' players, and a downwardly and outwardly inclined guide rod 26 which is positioned'within a plane common to a plane containing the longitudinal axis of the post 22 and a line forming a juncture between a pair of the angularly related sides 12, 14, 16.
A triangular shaped frame 28, of generally the same configuration and of slightly larger size than the bottom wall 18 of the base, is used during the play of the game. This triangularly shaped frame 28 istossed toward the base from a predetermined distance, so that upon dropping downwardly along the length of the center post 22, the guide member 26 will orientate the frame 28 so that its apices are aligned with the apices of the base, thus enabling the frame to drop properly into assembled relationship with the pyramidal base. One side of the triangular -frame 28 may be colored differently or otherwise identified so as to define the scoring side. The attained score is attained by the numerical indicia 17 on the sides 12, 14, 16 of the base with which the distinguished side of the frame 28 is associated when the frame member 28 comes to rest.
It will now be recognized that this game may be played by young and old people alike, may be'used for individual or team play, and will, through practice, improve the dexterity of the players.
While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims.
What I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is:
l. A game comprising, in combination, a base, a stand for stably positioning said base upon a supporting sur face, a frame of substantially the same configuration and of slightly larger size than said base for manually directed movement over said base, guide means carried by said base controlling the movement of said frame relative to said base, said base being of generally pyramidal shape having three angularly related side walls and a connecting bottom wall, said stand comprising a plurality of angularly related rods projecting perpendicularly through .each one of said sides of said base and converging toward the central axis thereof, and an upright'center' post integral with the juncture point of said rods extending through the apex of said base.
2. The combination according to claim 1, wherein said guide means comprises a rod integral with the upper-.-
most end of said center post extending downwardly and outwardly from said uppermost end of said center post,
