l STE/1111118 TABLE. Y No. 810.185. Patented Jan. 8, 1888` AzJw/ENTOR 3"Y 1 w1th an opening (rectangular 1n this instance) PATENT OFFICE.
ROYAL E. DEANE, OF NEV YORK, N. Y.
sTEAMlNe-TABLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No.310,185, dated January 6, 1885.
Application filed August 4, 1884. (No model.)
T all whom it may concern.:
Be it known that I, ROYAL E. DEANE, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at New York city, in the county and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Steam-Cooking Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to that class of steameooking apparatuswhich is designed for frying and broiling articles of food.
The object-oi' the invention is to so construct and arrange an apparatus or cooking-table of this class that either large or small articles may be cooked thereon with equal facility, afurther object being to so construct such an apparatus or cooking-table as to obtain two independent cooking-surfaces, in order that two dissimilar articles of food-as, for instance, iish and steak-may be cooked each on aseparate surface, so that the taste of one will not be affected by the other. the means illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein#- Figure l represents my improved apparatus Vor cooking-table in vertical section. Fig. 2 is a plan View.
In both figures the same reference-letters are used to designate corresponding parts'. The frame of stand A is provided f t thetop of a size and shape to receive the steam-box B. This box is a hollow metallic casing constructed to fit loosely inthe opening in the top of the stand of frame A, and is provided at sopposite sides with hollow trunnions or pipes Y D, adapted to be journaled in boxes Va at opposite sides of the opening in the frame A, in order that the box B-maybe readily turned to bring either horizontal surfaceV uppermost. One'horizontal surface, b, of the box is provided with numerous depressions toreceive small articles to be cooked, while the opposite surface, b is plain, as shown. The opposite 'horizontal -walls of the box are united at intervals byconnections or points B, extending from thecenter of each depression in the surface b of one wall to a point opposite in the other wall, these connections being preferably formed during casting.
In practice-the pipes D arepto be connected,
TheseV objects I attain by particular description of any one 'form is l deemed unnecessary herein. Cocks or valves to regulate the admission and escape of steam may be provided, their location being preferably upon the steam supply and exhaust pipes near the box B. Thus constructed, it will be seen that the box may be turned to bring either horizontal surface uppermost, as the nature of the articles to be cooked may require, the recessed surface being particularly designed for the cooking of small articlessuch as eggs, griddle-cakes, apd the like-and the plain or iiat surface for the cooking of steak, Src.
Vhat l claim as my i11venti0n,and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
l. A reversible steam-cooking table consist-ing, substantially as before set forth, of a hollow steam-tight box provided at opposite edges with tubular trunnions or pipes.
2. The combination, with the stand or frame provided` at the top with an opening having journal-bearings at opposite sides, of the hollow steam-tight box constituting a cookingtable, constructed to iit loosely within said opening, and provided at opposite sides with tubular trunnions adapted to tit said bearings, substantially as described.
3. A reversible steam-cookin g table consisting of a hollow steam-tight box provided at opposite edges with tubular trunnions or pipes communicating with the interior of the box, and having a series of depressions in one of its cooking-surfaces, substantially as described.
4.. A reversible steam-cooking table consisting of a hollow steam-tight box having at opposite sides tubular trunnions or pipes communicating with the interior of the box, and
provided interiorly with points connecting the opposite walls ofthe box, substantially as specified.
Dated New York, July 29, 188i.
