PRICE FLUSH TANK ATTACHMENT FOR LEVER OPERAT OF ATOMIZER DEODORANT CANS Filed Oct 25 1961 United States Patent 3,143,745 FLUSH TANK ATTACHMENT FOR LEVER OPER- ATION 0F ATOMIZER DEODORANT CANS Nathaniel W. No. 147,548 1 Claim. c1. 4-222 The object of the present invention is to provide means for automatic spray of a deodorant in bathrooms whenever the toilet flush tank is operated. A particular object of the invention is to provide an efiective and very inexpensive universal connector between the flush tank operating lever commonly employed and a gas-pressure, valve operated, deodorant atomizer can, for operation of the usual downward movement of the flush tank lever.
The invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the invention held by a wall of a toilet flush tank and in position to receive a deodorant atomizer can be held vertically, the dotted lines showing the tank lever and operating lever for the can valve in lowermost position.
FIG. 2 is a side elevation.
FIG. 3 is a top plan view of the can and certain supporting elements, together with the valve lever.
Referring to the drawings, I have shown at 1 the corner area, broken away, of a customary type of toilet flush tank. In use, such a tank will have a cover 2. At 3 is shown the customary operating lever of the flush tank and which is moved downwardly for an operative stroke. The valve actuated deodorant can be adjustably held to the side on the flush tank by suction cups 4, although any suitable supporting means for the can may be employed. Also, it may be considered that the can 3, shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, may be inserted into a holding support to which suction cups, or equivalent tank securing means are applied.
In the present embodiment, an arm 5 projects upwardly from either the can itself, or the holder therefor, and this arm is formed horizontally to the inwardly directed extension 6, which is apertured to receive the rod 7.
The wall of the aperture may frictionally hold rod 7, or the latter may be threaded into the aperture as desired, and rod 7 preferably has a yielding characteristic, i.e. a springy action, as indicated in FIGS. 1 and 2, although the springy action is magnified in those figures for clarity of illustration. Preferably the rod 7 is made of plas 3,143,745 Patented Aug. 11, 1964 tie material, and is formed with a contact button 7x at its end.
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the can, or the holder therefor, is placed in such a position on the flush tank wall that button 7x will lie under the flush tank lever 9. When the latter lever is depressed, it will move the arm 7 downwardly and open the valve 'element 3x of the can, effecting a spray of the deodorant, as indicated by dotted lines in FIG. 1.
It will be seen'rthat the device appears very simple and of low cost. Various modifications may be made in the form and arrangement of the elements constituting the embodiment illustrated in the drawings, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawings, the top of the can is indicated at 3, and the element below it indicated at 3x may be considered as a holder for the can, and into which the can is received, arms 5 and 6 being carried by the holder.
Having described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is as follows:
In combination with a flush tank having side walls with a first wall at substantially right angles to a second wall, at operating lever on said second wall leading to a flush valve in the tank, a flush tank attachment for lever operation of the valve of an atomizer deodorant can, consisting of a container for receiving and supporting an atomizer can exterior the flush tank, and means for supporting the container upon the exterior surface of the flush tank in various vertical adjusted positions, a rigid arm rising from and above the top of the container, a lever rod extension carried by said rigid arm and extending at an angle substantially horizontally across the vertical axis of said means for supporting the deodorant can, said rod being springy throughout and integrally adapted to spring upward after downward action by the said lever, the container with its rigid arm and springy rod being positioned on the flush tank first wall with the rod angularly crossing the jointure of said first and second walls of the tank and in position for co-action with said lever.
