(Cl. 240-445) This application is a continuation-in-part of my previous application, Serial No. 314,221 filed October 7, 1963, now Patent No. 3,222,517.

This invention relates to improvements in lampshades and particularly to such lampshades which are adapted for homes and other interiors.

The principal objects of this invention are to provide an improved form of a collapsible lampshade construction with interchangeable shade screens and interchangeable braces which braces attach the lampshade at several different heights to the lampbase; to provide a brace socket construction in which the brace is secured to the sockets without the use of screws or other similar fastening means; to provide a lampshade construction in which a central pin with supporting slots and an attaching strip hold the connected frames of the lampshade together; to provide a further construction in which a flexible attaching ear with a slot combination and a plurality of attaching strip sections secure the separate frames of the lampshade to each other; to provide a lightscreen which prevents the escape of light from the interior of the lampshade at the joint of the frames and gives an outside support to the lampshade.

In the drawings is illustrated two forms of this invention.

In the first form as shown in the drawings in FIG. 1, FIG. 2, FIG. 3, FIG. 4 and FIG. 5, the lampshade comprises a plurality of frames 1, each frame having an opening 2 to be covered with a shade material passing light therethrough and a shade holder 3 surrounding said opening on one side of the frame to hold such material. Said shade holder 3 which is a substantially square shaped frame or rigid transparent plastic plate and the frame 1 are attached to each other with a plurality of

4 and 4A. It is understood that said hinges may be substituted with integral hinges. Each frame 1 having an attaching strip 5 at one end and each shade holder 3 having a preferably threaded central pin 6 and vertical and horizontal supporting slots 7 at the other end. Each attaching strip 5 is having a central opening 8 and provided around said opening with a holding ring 9. In order to connect the separate frames 1 with each other in a square relationship, the central pin 6 at one end of the shade holder 3 is positioned into the central opening 8 of the attaching strip 5 at the other end of the adjacent frame 1, whereby the vertical and horizontal edges of said attaching strip slip into the vertical and horizontal ends of the supporting slots 7. The horizontal ends of said supporting slots 7 at one end of the shade holder 3 serve a dual purpose, to provide the attaching strips 5 with a horizontal support and secure simultaneously the other end of the shade holder 3 of the adjacent frame with the shade material against the same end of the frame 1 when said frames are connected with each other.

The attaching strip 5 serves also a dual purpose, attaching the single frames to each other and as an inside light screen prevents the escape of light at the joint of the attached frames.

In order to secure the connected frames 1 to each other, a screw threaded pin cap 10 is being screwed over the central pin 6 and the brim 11 of said pin cap by penetrating into the holding ring 9 of the attaching strip 5, secures the connected frames 1 together.

Each frame 1 is provided longitudinally at one end thereof with an outside lightscreen 17 which lightscreen is a slight angular extension of one end of said frames and each frame is provided longitudinally atthe other end with an outside lightscreen slot 17A. By connecting two adjacent frames 1 with each other, said outside lightscreen 17 at one end of the frame slips into the outside lightscreen slot 17A on the other end of the adjacent frame 1 in a position corresponding with the square shape of the lampshade, thereby preventing the escape of light from the interior of the lampshade at the joint of said frames 1.

To insert the shade material into the inside part of the frames 1 and the shade holders 3, said shade holders should be opened.

Each frame 1 is provided on its upper end with a horizontal covering strip 18 to cover the upper end of the inserted shade material and on its bottom end with a horizontal holding strip 19 to hold said shade material in position.

To open and close the shade holder 3 easily, the vertical central part of each shade holder having at one end thereof a vertical cut out portion 16 corresponding with the height of the holding ring 9.

The assembled lampshade is attached to the lampbase with a single brace which can be made up either in one piece or in three parts.

Each shade holder 3 is provided at one end thereof with a brace socket 20 and the shape of said sockets always corresponds with the shape of the end portions of said brace. Each of said brace sockets having at one end a brace holding means 21 for securing the brace to the opposite facing two brace sockets 20. Said brace holding means may be a rib or other similar holding means. To provide the inserted brace in said brace sockets 20 with additional support, each of said brace sockets having two vertical supporting ears 15.

To release the secured frames 1, the pin cap 10 should be unscrewed from the central pin 6.

In the other form of the lampshade construction as illustrated in FIG. 6, FIG. 7 and FIG. '8, the central pin 3 6 at one end of the shade holder 3 is substituted with an attaching ear 12. Said attaching ear is provided with sufiicient flexibility either by the natural flexibility of the material used for the lampshade, or in case of rigid materials by appropriate springs.

The supporting slot 7 at the same end of said shade holder 3 is also substituted with the upper and lower supporting slots 7A.

The attaching strip at the other end of the frame 1 is substituted with a sectional upper and lower attaching strip 5A and with a central attaching strip 513. The horizontal ends of said upper and lower supporting slots 7A at one end of the shade holder 3 serve a dual purpose, to give a horizontal support to the horizontal end of the upper and lower attaching strips 5A and to secure vsimultaneously the other end of the shade holder 3 of the adjacent frame 1 with the shade material against the same end of said adjacent frame when said frames are connected with each other.

' Each attaching car 12 is provided at one end thereof with a holding means 13 preferably in the form of a groove or opening and each central attaching strip 5B is provided at one end thereof with a holding means 14 preferably in the form of a rib or other similar holding means.

Each shade holder 3 having at one end an upper and lower inside light screen 17B and at the other end an preventing thereby the escape of light at the joint of said shade holders 3 and providing said connected shade holders with additional firm support.

In order to connect the adjacent frames 1 with each other in this construction, the central attaching strip SE at one end of the frame 1 is being inserted into the attach-ing ear 12 at the other end of the shade holder 3 of the adjacent frame whereby the upper and lower attaching strips 5A penetrate into the upper and lower supporting slots 7A. The rib of the holding means 14 of the central attaching strip 53 by lifting slightly the flexible attaching ear 12 snaps into the groove of the holding means 13 of said attaching ear 12 and secures the two adjacent frames together. To release the secured frames 1 the attaching car 12 should be slightly lifted.

To open and close the shade holder 3 easily, the vertical central part of each shade holder having at one end thereof a vertical cut out portion 16A corresponding with the height of the rib of the holding means 14 of the central attaching strip 5B.

All the other parts of this construction are entirely identical with the parts of the first construction.

In each of said two constructions the four frames 1 are exactly alike. The attaching

5, 5A and SB respectively and the central pin 6 and attaching car 12 respectively are so formed that said frames 1 may be connected end to end in interchangeable relation.

The assembled lampshade in both constructions is attached to the la-mpbase with a single brace which can be made up either in one piece as FIG. 9, FIG. 11 and FIG. 12 show it, or in three parts as illustrated in FIG. 10.

It is clearly understood that according to the strength of the materials used for said braces, all the illustrated braces may be narrower or wider in shape and they may be fiat, rectangular or round including the shape of a .single wire and the parts of said braces may be used also in combination with each other within the scope of the invention.

7 It is also understood that said braces can be used not only as a unit with the present invention but also in connection with other lampshades as separate components.

FIG. 9 shows three non-collapsible braces, each made up in one piece. Each of said braces having a base plate 22 with a central hole 23 for attaching said braces through said hole to the lampbase. Both ends of the base plate 22 forming an arm 24 and the degree of angle of said arms regulates the height of the lampshade on the lampbase. Both arms 24 ending in a brace attacher 25 for connecting the brace with the two opposite facing brace sockets 20 and having parallel with said brace attacher a flexible brace holder 26. Said brace holder is provided at one end thereof with a brace holding means 27 for securing said brace holder 26 to the brace socket 20. Said brace holding means 27 may be a groove or opening or other similar holding means. By inserting said brace attackers 25 into the two opposite facing brace sockets 20, the brace holders 26 slide over the outside end of said opposite standing two brace sockets 20 and the rib of the brace holding means 21 of said brace sockets snaps into the groove of the brace holding means 27 of the brace holder 26, thereby securing the brace to the brace sockets. To release said brace from the brace sockets 20, the upper end of the flexible brace holder 26 should be slightly lifted.

FIG. 10 illustrates the same braces as shown in FIG. 9, but in collapsible form, made up in three parts. Each of said braces comprising a base plate 28 with a central hole 23 for attaching the brace through said hole to the lampbase. Both ends of said base plate 28 forming an extension socket 29 for receiving one end of an arm extension 30. Each of said extension sockets having at one end an extension holding means 31 preferably in the form of a knob or rib and each of the arm extensions 30 having at one end a holding ear 32 for securing the inserted arm extensions 30 and the extension sockets 29 together. Said arm extensions as illustrated in FIG. 10, may extend from said extension sockets either at the same degree of angle as said extension sockets or at a higher degree of angle and the degree of angle of said arm extensions 30 regulates the height of the lampshade on the lampbase. Both arm extensions 30 forming at the other end thereof a brace attacher 25A for connecting the brace with the brace sockets 20 and parallel with said brace attacher having a flexible brace holder 26A. Said brace holder is provided at one end thereof with a brace holding means 27A which may be a groove, an opening or similar other holding means for securing said brace holder 26A to the brace socket 20. By inserting the brace attache-rs 25A into the two opposite facing brace sockets 20, the two brace holders 26A slide over the outside end of said sockets and the rib of the brace holding means 21 of the brace socket 20 snaps into the groove of the brace holding means 27A ofthe brace holder 26A, securing thereby the brace with the brace sockets. To release said brace from the brace sockets 20, the upper end of the flexible brace holder 26A should be slightly lifted.

FIG. 11 shows three non-collapsible braces, each made up in one piece. Each of said braces having a central ring 33 for attaching through said ring the brace to the lampbase. Said central ring having at two opposite ends thereof an arm 34 and each of said arms having in the form of a partial elevation a diffuser hook 35 for positioning the lampshade by said dilfuser hook on a light 'difiuser '45 and the extent of the height of said diltuser hook 35 regulates the height of the lampshade on the lampbase as well as on the light diffuser. Both arms 34 .end in a brace attacher 36 for connecting the brace with the brace sockets 2t and having parallel with said brace attacher a flexible brace holder 37. Said brace holder is provided at one end thereof with a brace holding means 38 which maybe a groove, an opening or other similar holding means. By inserting the brace attachers 36 into the two opposite standing brace sockets 20,- the brace holders 37 slide over the outside end of said brace sockets and the rib of the brace holding means 21 of said brace sockets snaps into the groove of the brace holding means 38 of the brace holders 37, thereby securing the brace to the brace sockets 20. To release said brace from said brace sockets, the upper end of the flexible brace holders 37 should be slightly lifted.

FIG. 12 shows three non-collapsible braces, each made up in one piece. Each of said braces having a base plate 39 with a central hole 23 for attaching the brace through said hole to the lampbase. Both ends of the base plate 39 extend substantially vertically in a height regulator 40 and the extent of the height of said height regulators regulating the height of the lampshade on the lampbase. Both height regulators extend substantially horizontally forming the shadow eliminators 41 to eliminate casted shadows from the interior to the lampshade. Each of said shadow eliminators ends in a brace attacher 42 for connecting the brace with the brace sockets 20 and having parallel with said brace attacher a flexible brace holder 43. Each of said brace holders is provided at one end thereof with a brace holding means 44 which may be a groove, an opening or other similar holding means. By inserting the brace attachers 42 into the two opposite standing brace sockets 20, the brace holders 43 slide over the outside end of said brace sockets and the rib of the brace holding means 21 of the brace sockets 20 snaps into the groove of the brace holding means 44 of the brace holders 43, thereby securing the brace and said brace sockets together. To release said brace from the brace sockets 20, the upper end of the flexible brace holders 43 should be slightly lifted.

It is understood that this lampshade may be round as well as rectangular and embody substantiall the same construction except for the change in configuration.

Although but one specific embodiment of the invention has been herein shown and described, it will be understood that details of the construction shown may be altered or omitted without departing from the spirit of this invention as defined by the following claims:

I claim:

1. A collapsible lampshade, comprising a plurality of frames, each having an opening to be covered with a shade material passing light therethrough, a shade holder surrounding one side of said opening for holding such material and attached to said frame with a plurality of hinges, said frames are provided with a horizontal covering strip to cover the top of the shade material and with a horizontal holding strip to support the bottom of said shade material, each frame having an attaching strip at one end and each shade holder having a central pin and supporting slots at the other end, each of said attaching strips having a central opening with a holding ring around such opening, the central pin at one end of the shade holder is positioned into the central opening of the attaching strip at the other end of the adjacent frame for connecting such frames with each other and the edges of said attaching strip 'by slipping into the supporting slots are supported by said slots, a pin cap is screwed over the central pin and the brim of said pin cap by penetrating into the holding ring of said attaching strip secures the connected frames together, an outside lightscreen at one end of each frame slips into an outside lightscreen slot at the other end of the adjacent frame when said frames are connected for preventing the escape of light at the joint of the frames, each shade holder having at one end a brace socket provided with supporting ears to support a brace holder, a brace connecting the lampshade with the lampbase, said brace is comprising a base plate with a central hole for attaching said brace through said hole to the lampbase, both ends of said base plate forming an arm and the degree of angle of said arms regulating the height of the lampshade on the lampbase, both arms ending in a brace attacher for connecting the brace with the brace sockets and having parallel with said brace attacher a brace holder, each brace holder and each brace socket having at one end a brace holding means, by inserting the brace attachers into the two opposite standing brace sockets the brace holders slide over the outside end of said brace sockets and the brace holding means of said sockets by snapping into the brace holding means of said brace holders secure the brace and brace sockets together and said brace attaching the lampshade through the central hole of the base plate to the lampbase.

2. A collapsible lampshade, comprising a plurality of frames, each having an opening to be covered with a shade material passing light therethrough, a shade holder surrounding one side of said opening for holding such material and attached to said frame with a plurality of hinges, said frames are provided with a horizontal covering strip to cover the top of the shade material and with a horizontal holding strip to support the bottom of said shade material, each frame having an attaching strip at one end and each shade holder having a central pin and supporting slots at the other end, each of said attaching strips having a central opening with a holding ring around such opening, the central pin at one end of the shade holder is positioned into the central opening of the attaching strip at the other end of the adjacent frame for connecting such frames with each other and the edges of said attaching strip by slipping into the supporting slots are supported by said slots, a pin cap is screwed over the central pin and the brim of said pin cap by penetrating into the holding ring of said attaching strip secures the connected frames together, an outside lightscreen at one end of each frame slips into the outside lightscreen slot at the other end of the adjacent frame when said frames are connected for preventing the escape of light at the joint of the frames, each shade holder having at one end a brace socket provided with supporting ears to support a brace holder, a brace connecting the lampshade with the lampbase, said brace comprising a base plate with a central hole for attaching said brace to the lampbase, both ends of said base plate forming an extension socket, each of said extension sockets receiving one end of an arm extension for connecting said extension sockets with said arm extensions and the degree of angle of said arm extensions regulating the height of the lampshade on the lampbase, the other end of both arm extensions forming a brace attacher for connecting the brace with the brace sockets and parallel with said brace attacher forming a brace holder, each of said brace holders and each of said brace sockets having at one end a brace holding means, by inserting the brace attachers into the two opposite standing brace sockets the brace holders slide over the outside 'end of said brace sockets and the brace holding means of the brace sockets 'by snapping into the brace holding means of said brace holders secure the brace and said brace sockets together and said brace attaching the lampshade through the central hole of the base plate to the lampbase.

3. A collapsible lampshade, comprising a plurality of frames, each having an opening to be covered with a shade material passing light therethrough, a shade holder surrounding one side of said opening for holding such material and attached to said frame with a plurality of hinges, said frames are provided with a horizontal covering strip to cover the top of the shade material and with a horizontal holding strip to support the bottom of said shade material, each frame having an attaching strip at one end and each shade holder having a central pin and supporting slots at the other end, each of said attaching strips having a central opening with a holding ring around such opening, the central pin at one end of the shade holder is positioned into the central opening of the attaching strip at the other end of the adjacent frame for connecting such frames with each other and the edges of said attaching strip by slipping into the supporting slots are supported by said slots, a pin cap is screwed over the central pin and the brim of said pin cap 'by penetrating into the holding ring of said attaching strip secures the connected frames together, an outside lightscreen at one end of each frame slips into the outside light-screen slot at the other end of the adjacent frame when said frames are connected for preventing the escape of light at the joint of the frames, each shade holder having at one end a brace socket provided with supporting ears to support a brace holder, a brace connecting the lampshade with the lampbase, said brace comprising a central ring for attaching the brace to the lampbase, said central ring having at two opposite ends thereof an arm, both arms having a diffuser hook for positioning said brace on a light diffuser and the extend of the height of said diffuser hooks regulating the height of the lampshade on the lampbase, each of said arms ending in a brace attacher for connecting the brace with the brace sockets and having parallel with said brace attachers a brace holder, each brace holder and each brace socket having at one end a brace holding means, by inserting the brace attachers into the two opposite standing brace sockets said brace holders slide over the outside end of the brace sockets and the brace holding means of the brace sockets by snapping into the brace holding means of said brace holders secure the brace and brace sockets together and said brace attaching the lampshade through the central ring of the brace to the lampbase or positioning the lampshade by the dilfuser book of the brace on a light diffuser.

4. A collapsible lampshade, comprising a plurality of frames, each having an opening to be covered with a shade material passing light therethrough, a shade holder surrounding one side of said opening for holding such material and attached to said frame with a plurality of hinges, said frames are provided with a horizontal covering strip to cover the top of the shade material and with -a horizontal holding strip to support the bottom of said shade material, each frame having an attaching strip at one end and each shade holder having a central pin and supporting slots at the other end, each of said attaching strips having a central opening with a holding ring around such opening, the central pin at one end of the shade holder is positioned into the central opening of the attaching strip at the other end of the adjacent frame for connecting such frames with each other and the edges of said attaching strip by slipping into the supporting slots are supported by said slots, a pin cap is screwed over the central pin and the brim of said pin cap by penetrating into the holding ring of said attaching strip secures the connected frames together, an outside light-screen at one end of each frame slips into the outside light-screen slot at the other end of the adjacent frame when said frames are connected for preventing the escape of light at the joint of the frames, each shade holder having at one end a brace socket provided with supporting ears to support a brace holder, a brace connecting the lampshade with the lampbase, said brace comprising a base plate with a central hole for attaching said brace to the lampbase, both ends of said base plate extend substantially vertically forming at each end a height regulator and the extension of said height regulators regulating the height of the lampshade on the lampbase, each of said height regulators extends substantially horizontally forming the shadow eliminators for eliminating casted shadows from the interior of the lampshade, each shadow eliminator ends in a brace attacher for connecting the brace with the brace sockets and having parallel with said brace attachers a brace holder, each brace holder and each brace socket is provided at one end with brace holding means, by inserting the brace attachers into the two opposite standing brace sockets the brace holders slide over the outside end of said brace sockets and the brace holding means of the brace sockets by snapping into the brace holding means of. said brace holders secure the brace and said brace sockets together and said brace attaching the lampshade {through the central hole of the base plate to the lampbase.

5. A collapsible lampshade, comprising a plurality of frames, each having an opening to be covered with a shade material passing light therethrough, a shade holder surrounding one side of said opening for holding such material and attached to said frame with a plurality of hinges, said frames are provided with a horizontal covering strip to cover the top of the shade material and with a horizontal holding strip to support the bottom of said shade material, each shade holder having at one end a flexible attaching ear and upper and lower supporting slots and each frame having at the other end an upper and lower attaching strip and a central attaching strip, each central attaching strip and each attaching ear having at one end thereof a holding means, the central attaching strip at one end of the frame is positioned into said attaching ear at the other end of the shade holder of the adjacent frame for connecting such frames with each other, the upper and lower attaching strips by slipping into the upper and lower supporting slots are supported by said slots, the holding means of said central attaching strip by snapping into the holding means of said attaching ear secures the connected frames to each other, an outside light screen at one end of each frame slips into an outside light screen slot at the other end of the adjacent frame when said frames are connected for preventing the escape of light at the joint of the frames, an upper and lower inside lightscreen at one end of each shade holder slips into the upper and lower inside light screen slots at the other end of said shade holder of the adjacent frame when said frames are connected for preventing the escape of light at the joint of said shade holders, each shade holder having at one end a brace socket provided' with supporting ears to support a brace holder, a brace connecting the lampshade with the lampbase, said brace is comprising a base plate with a central hole for attaching said brace through said hole to the lampbase, both ends of said base plate forming an arm and the degree of angle of said arms regulating the height of the lampshade on the lampbase, both arms ending in a brace attacher for connecting the brace with the brace sockets and having parallel with said brace attacher a brace holder, each brace holder and each brace socket having at one end a brace holding means, by inserting the brace attachers into the two opposite standing brace sockets the brace holders slide over the outside end of said brace sockets and the brace holding means of said sockets by snapping into the brace holding means of said brace holders secure the brace and the brace sockets together and said brace attaching the lampshade through the central hole of the base plate to the lampbase.

A collapsible lampshade, comprising a plurality of frames, each having an opening to be covered with a shade material passing light therethrough, a shade holder surrounding one side of said opening for holding such material and attached to said frame with a plurality of hinges, said frames are provided with a horizontal covering strip to cover the top of the shade material and with a horizontal holding strip to support the bottom of said shade material, each shade holder having at one end a flexible attaching ear and upper and lower supporting slots and each frame having at the other end an upper and lower attaching strip and a central attaching strip, each central attaching strip and each attaching ear having at one end thereof a holding means, the central attaching strip at one end of the frame is positioned into said attaching ear at the other end of the shade holder of the adjacent frame for connecting such frames with each other, the upper and lower attaching strips by slipping into the upper and lower supporting slots are supported by said slots, the holding means of said central attaching strip by snapping into the holding means of said attaching ear secures the connected frames to each other, an outside light screen at one end of each frame slips into an outside light screen slot at the other end of the adjacent frame when said frames are connected for preventing the escape of light at the joint of the frames, an upper and lower inside lightscreen at one end of each shade holder slips into the upper and lower inside light screen slots at the other end of said shade holder of the adjacent frame when said frames are connected for preventing the escape of light at the joint of said shade holders, each shade holder having at one end a brace socket provided with supporting ears to support a brace holder, a brace connecting the lampshade with the lampbase, said brace comprising a base plate with a central hole for attaching said brace to the lampbase, both ends of said base plate forming an extension socket, each of said extension sockets receiving one end of an arm extension for connecting said extension sockets with said arm extensions and the degree of angle of said arm extensions regulating the height of the lampshade on the lampbase, the other end of both arm extensions forming a brace attacher for connecting the brace with the brace sockets and parallel with said brace attacher forming a brace holder, each of said brace holders and each of said brace sockets having at one end a brace holding means, by insert-ing the brace attachers into the two opposite standing brace sockets the brace holders slide over the outside end of said brace sockets and the brace holding means of the brace sockets by snapping into the brace holding means of said brace holders secure the brace and said brace sockets together and said brace attaching the lampshade through the central hole of the base plate to the lampbase.

A collapsible lampshade, comprising a plurality of frames, each having an opening to be covered with a shade material passing light therethrough, a shade holder surrounding one side of said opening for holding such material and attached to said frame with a plurality of hinges, said frames are provided with a horizontal covering strip to cover the top of the shade material and with a horizontal holding strip to support the bottom of said shade material, each shade holder having at one end a flexible attaching ear and upper and lower supporting slots and each frame having at the other end an upper and lower attaching strip and a central attaching strip, each central attaching strip and each attaching ear having at one end thereof a holding means, the central attaching strip at one end of the frame is positioned into said attaching ear at the other end of the shade holder of theadjacent frame for connecting such frames with each other, the upper and lower attaching strips by slipping into the upper and lower supporting slots are supported by said slots, the holding means of said central attaching strip by snapping into the holding means of said attaching ear secures the connected frames to each other, an outside light screen at one end of each frame slips into an outside light screen slot at the other end of the adjacent frame when said frames are connected for preventing the escape of light at the joint of the frames, an upper and lower inside light screen at one end of each shade holder slips into the upper and lower inside light screen slots at the other end of said shade holder of the adjacent frame when said frames are connected for preventing the escape of light at the joint of said shade holders, each shade holder having at one end a brace socket provided with supporting ears to support a brace holder, a brace connecting the lampshade with the lampbase, said brace comprising a central ring for attaching the brace to the lampbase, said central ring having at two opposite ends thereof an arm, both arms having a diffuser hook for positioning said brace on a light diffuser and the extent of the height of said diffuser hooks regulating the height of the lampshade on the lampbase, each of said arms ending in a brace attacher for connecting the brace with the brace sockets and having parallel with said brace attachers a brace holder, each brace holder and each brace socket having at one end a brace holding means, by inserting the brace attachers into the two opposite standing brace sockets said brace holders slide over the outside end of the brace sockets and the brace holding means of the brace sockets by snapping into the brace holding means of said brace holders secure the brace and brace sockets together and said brace attaching the lampshade through the central ring of the brace to the lampbase or positioning the lampshade by the diffuser hook of the brace on a light diffuser.

A collapsible lampshade, comprising a plurality of frames, each having an opening to be covered with a shade material passing light therethrough, a shade holder surrounding one side of said opening for holding such material and attached to said frame with a plurality of hinges, said frames are provided with a horizontal covering strip to cover the top of the shade material and with a horizontal holding strip to support the bottom of said shade material, each shade holder having at one end a flexible attaching ear and upper and lower supporting slots and each frame having at the other end an upper and lower attaching strip and a central attaching strip, each central attaching strip and each attaching ear having at one end thereof a holding means, the central attaching strip at one end of the frame is positioned into said attaching car at the other end of the shade holder of the adjacent frame for connecting such frames with each other, the upper and lower attaching strips by slipping into the upper and lower supporting slots are supported by said slots, the holding means of said central attaching strip by snapping into the holding means of said attacln'ng ear secures the connected frames to each other, an outside light screen at one end of each frame slips into an outside light screen slot at the other end of the adjacent frame when said frames are connected for preventing the escape of light at the joint of the frames, an upper and lower inside light screen at one end of each shade holder slips into the upper and lower inside light screen slots at the other end of said shade holder of the adjacent frame when said frames are connected for preventing theescape of light at the joint of said shade holders, each shade holder having at one end a brace socket provided with supporting ears to support a brace holder, a brace connecting the lampshade with the lampbase, said brace comprising a base plate with a central hole for attaching said brace to the lampbase, both ends of said base plate extend substantially vertically forming at each end a height regulator and the extension of said height regulators regulating the height of the lampshade on the lampbase, each of said height regulators extends substantially horizontally forming the shadow eliminators for eliminating casted shadows from the interior of the lampshade, each shadow eliminator ends in a brace attacher for connecting the brace with the brace sockets and having parallel with said brace attachers a brace holder, each brace holder and each brace socket is provided at one end with brace holding means, by inserting the brace attachers into the two opposite standing brace sockets the brace holders slide over the outside end of said brace sockets and the brace holding means of the brace sockets by snapping into the brace holding means of said brace holders secure the brace and said brace sockets together and said brace attaching the lampshade through the central hole of the base plate to the lampbase.

Claims

1. A COLLAPSIBLE LAMPSHADE, COMPRISING A PLURALITY OF FRAMES, EACH HAVING AN OPENING TO BE COVERED WITH A SHADE MATERIAL PASSING LIGHT THERETHROUGH, A SHADE HOLDER SURROUNDING ONE SIDE OF SAID OPENING FOR HOLDING SUCH MATERIAL AND ATTACHED TO SAID FRAME WITH A PLURALITY OF HINGES, SAID FRAMES ARE PROVIDED WITH A HORIZONTAL COVERING STRIP TO COVER THE TOP OF THE SHADE MATERIAL AND WITH A HORIZONTAL HOLDING STRIP TO SUPPORT THE BOTTOM OF SAID SHADE MATERIAL, EACH FRAME HAVING AN ATTACHING STRIP AT ONE END AND EACH SHADE HOLDER HAVING A CENTRAL PIN AND SUPPORTING SLOTS AT THE OTHER END, EACH OF SAID ATTACHING STRIPS HAVING A CENTRAL OPENING WITH A HOLDING RING AROUND SUCH OPENING, THE CENTRAL PIN AT ONE END OF THE SHADE HOLDER IS POSITIONED INTO THE CENTRAL OPENING OF THE ATTACHING STRIP AT THE OTHER END OF THE ADJACENT FRAME FOR CONNECTING STRIP FRAMES WITH EACH OTHER AND THE EDGES OF SAID ATTACHING STRIP BY SLIPPING INTO THE SUPPORTING SLOTS ARE SUPPORTED BY SAID SLOTS, A PIN CAP IS SCREWED OVER THE CENTRAL PIN AND THE BRIM OF SAID PIN CAP BY PENETRATING INTO THE HOLDING RING OF SAID ATTACHING STRIP SECURES THE CONNECTED FRAMES TOGETHER, AN OUTSIDE LIGHTSCREEN AT ONE END OF EACH FRAME SLIPS INTO AN OUTSIDE LIGHTSCREEN SLOT AT THE OTHER END
