FURNITURE-PAD.

SPECIFICATION forming part oi' Letters Patent No. 329,213, dated October 27, 1885.

To all whom t may concern:

Be it known that I, CHAs. M. RHODES, of Lynn, in the county of Essex and Commonwealth of Massachusetts,haveinvented certain 5 Improvements in Furniture-Pads or Buffers, of which the following, taken in connection With the accompanying drawings, is a specilication.

This invention relates to means Vfor prero venting articles of household furniture from being marred by coming in contact with the Walls of a room or other objects; and the nature of the invention is fully described hereinafter, and fully and lspecifically pointed out in 15 the claims.

Referring to the drawings, Figure is a horizontal central section of my improved furniture-pad. Fig. 2is aperspective View of the pad attached to the corner-post of an article 2o of furniture, and only so much of the post is represented `as is necessary to illustrate the combination and arrangement of the pad in connection therewith.

The frame A is constructed with an angle,

25 a, which is adapted to fit the corner of the article of furniture with which it is intended to be used. Said frame may be composed of iron or any other suitable material, and it is provided with extensions e, located relatively to 3o the frame and adapted to project outward therefrom, as represented in the drawings. Said extensions e are provided with a central bore or chamber adapted to receive the pads f, which are composed of rubber or other soft material, and are made With a tang adapted to set into the hole in the extension, and with a shoulder that bears against the end face of the extension, as shown, and the end of the pad is rounded. The frame A is readily attachable to an article of furniture by means of screws which pass through the frame at the rear ends of the said chambers, the heads of the screws being concealed behind the pads, and thus are prevented from marring the nish and beauty of the article of furniture. The pads are madeto be easily taken out or replaced in order to get at and adj ust the screws whenever it is desired to attach the frame to or detach it from thearticle of furniture.

I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. A furniture-pad composedv of the frame A, provided with angle c and extensions e, said extensions being chambered and having pads fitted therein, as described.4 55

2. A furniture-pad composed of the frame A, provided with angle a and extensions e, said extensions being chambered and having pads fitted therein, as described, and screws concealed within the chambers for attaching 6o the frame to an article of furniture, as stated.
