No. 344,092, Feb. 11, 1964. This application Apr. 26, 1966, Ser. No. 552,664 1 Claim. (Cl. 2633) ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method for preventing the swinging of raising rollers in rotary cylinder napping devices by mounting at least the bearing pins disposed at each end face of each of the raising rollers via elastic buffers providing same for radial movement.
The present invention is a continuation of my copending patent application, Ser. No. 344,092, filed Feb. 11, 1964, now abandoned.
The present invention relates to a method of preventing the swinging of raising or napping rollers in napping devices, the casing of which is formed of a plurality of raising or napping rollers.
In the known tambour or drum raising machines, the raising rollers are guided in the tambuor on both sides by means of slide bearings or by anti-friction bearing, preferably, by means of self-aligning bearings. Each raising roller swings more or less through in its center under the centrifugal force created during the rotation of the tambour, so that the mounting without possibility of selfaligning would lead to the destruction of the bearing.
The drawback of this mounting resides in the fact, that the rollers can swing completely freely, whereby the surface of the raising tambour has no more an exact cylindrical form, but rather assumes a slightly bulbous shape. This means, that the goods running over the tambour are not equally raised, since the tambour has in its center a larger circumference due to the swinging of the raising rollers. The goods are, thereby, engaged 'by the raising rollers in a different manner in the center than on the sides of the tambour. Furthermore, the rotation of the raising cylinder is not equalized, since the rollers are not continuously in engagement with the goods. By this arrangement, non-controllable self-oscillations result, which influence likewise unfavorably the raising or napping process.
It is, therefore, one object of the present invention to provide a method of preventing the swinging of raising or napping rollers in napping device which avoids the known drawbacks.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a method of preventing the swinging of raising or napping rollers in napping devices which comprises the step of supporting bearing pins of napping rollers elastically for a free radial movement of the bearing pins, whereby the swinging movement is curtailed.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide a method of preventing the swinging of raising or napping rollers in napping devices, whereby the raising rollers are supported on each side thereof by two antifriotion bearings disposed in symmetrical arrangement, whereby always the bearings disposed adjacent the end faces of each of the rollers are formed as an all-around elastically supported and radially movable anti-friction bearings while always the bearings provided at the end of the bearing pins are radially immovably mounted.
With these and other objects in view, which will become apparent in the following detailed description, the
present invention will be clearly understood in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:
FIGURE 1 is a front elevation of a raising machine;
FIG. 2 is a raising roller only, which is mounted at both ends thereof in anti-friction bearings;
FIG. 3 is an elevation of a raising roller similar to that shown in FIG. 2, however, indicating a different embodiment of the mounting of the raising rollers; and
FIG. 4 is a front elevation of the raising machine.
Referring now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1, 2 and 4, the tambour raising machine designed in accordance with the present invention comprises a plurality of raising rollers 10 forming the casing of the cylinder, which raising rollers 10 have on each end bearing pins 11 and 12, respectively, which are received in anti-friction bearings 13, 14 and 15, 16, respectively, which anti-friction bearings are disposed at each side at a predetermined distance from each other.
In accordance with the embodiment disclosed in FIG. 2 of the drawings, at least one of the two ant- friction bearings 13, 14 and 15, 16, respectively, and preferably, always the anti-friction bearings 13 and 15, respectively, disposed at each end face of the roller 10, are mounted for radial movement against an elastic buffer 17, while the two bearings 14 and 16 disposed at the end of the bearing pins 11 and 12, are mounted such that no radial movement is possible. The elastic support of the antifriction bearings is brought about by self-elastic bearing bushings 17, which are made of synthetic material or rubber or any other material having elastic characteristics, whereby these bearings are suitably rigidly connected with a bearing housing 18.
In the embodiment disclosed in FIG. 3 of the drawings, both anti-friction bearings 13 and 14, as well as 15 and 16, are mounted on both bearing sides of the roller 10 for radial movement in elastic bearings bushings 17.
It is to be understood that the shown and described embodiments constitute merely examples for the realization of the present invention and are by no means limited thereto, rather many other embodiments and applications are possible Within the scope of thepresent invention and of the claim.
I claim.
In a method of napping cloth by means of raising rollers of a rotary cylinder napping device wherein the bearing pins of said raising rollers are mounted on antifriction bearings situated on said rotary cylinder and disposed on opposite sides of said rollers, the improvement comprising supporting the bearing pins of said raising rollers on two anti-friction hearings on each side of said rotary cylinder napping device, each of said provided with a housing,
damping elastically the movement between at least the two anti-friction bearings adjacent each end face of each said raising rollers, thereby preventing the swinging of said raising rollers in said rotary cylinder napping device.
