INVENTOR MICHAEL J. CICCONE AT TORNEY HAIR our FOR HAIR HOLDERS BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION SUMMARY or THE INVENTION In the present case there is provided a molded plastic Onepiece hair clip which comprises a pair of rounded fingers in general U-shape, the closed end thereof being bent upwardly out of the plane of the fingers and having integral therewith at the sides thereofa resilient upstanding portion located at an angle with respect to the general plane of the fingers, mounting a single intermediate rounded resilient integral plastic finger with an extension thereon, so that the closed end of the U and the extension acts as a fingergripby which the hair clip may be manipulated and the fingers separated to accept the wall of the hair roller and a roll of hair thereon, for securementwithout any sharp edges, etc., all of the individual parts of this integral member having rounded edges.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a plan view illustrating the new clip;
FIG. 2 is a view in side elevation thereof looking in the PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION The present hair clip is a molded plastic one-piece member. It has two outside elongated, free-ended fingers l and 12 which are substantially round and reasonably blunt at their free ends. At their opposite ends they are connected by a cross member 14 which forms the closed end of a U-shaped member, together with the fingers and 12. This cross member 14 extends on an arc upwardly from the general plane of fingers l0 and 12 as clearly shown in FIG. 2, and this has the definite advantage of extending'away from the head or scalp of the user of the device when the same is applied thereto, so that it does not tend to dig into the scalp.
16 and 18 which extend upwardly and inwardly and also in a direction from the rear towards the front, i.e., from the cross member 14 the legs incline upwardly toward the free ends of fingers. l0 and 12. At their top ends these legs support a third and central finger generally indicated at 20 which is spaced somewhat as shown by the gap 22 from fingers 10 and I2 and extends forwardly for substantial alignment at the end thereof with fingers I0 and 12. It is to be noted that the central finger 20 extends downwardly from the legs l6, 18 to a general coincidence in the plane of fingers l0 and 12. It may be raised to the dotted line position thereof, see FIG. 2, when pressure is applied to a rearwardly extending member 24, pressure also being applied to the cross member 14, in the directions of the arrows in this FIG. This is for the purpose of clipping onto the roller which is shown in FIG. 4 at 26 .to apply the clip to the roller and to hair surrounding the roller as will be clear to those skilled in the art.
It will be noted that the tow fingers l0 and 12 are on the exterior of roller 26 and therefore on the exterior of the hair wrapped around the roller. Thisforms a solid base for holding the air and it is also more comfortable than if the single finger were extended outside and the double fingers inside the roller. This also positions the cross member 14 upwardly or out-- walrdltylaway from the scalp when the device is applied.
e molding of the c p, all of the corners and edges are rounded and thus the device is easy to clean. There are no pivots of any kind and there are no places for dirt to catch so that the device can be quickly and easily made sterile and cleaned for future use.
I claim: 1. A resilient plastic one-piece hair clip having a fingergrip member at one end thereof and an opposite free end portion,
the fingergrip portion including two members, two fingers extending from one member in spaced relation with relation to each other to the free end portion, and a single central finger extending from the other member to a general coincidence with the ends of the other two fingers, the three fingers generally lying in the same plane at their free ends when relaxed, and means supporting the central finger at the fingergrip end of the clip and including apair of legs which extend upwardly and inwardly from the respective end portions of the Rising at each side of the cross member 14 are a pair of legs two spaced fingers to support the central finger in spaced relation with respect to'the general plane of the two spaced fingers.
2. The hair clip of claim 1 which includes an extension of said single central finger;
3. The hair clip of claim 1 wherein said legs extend upwardly on an arc away from a plane including the said two fingers.
4. The hair clip of claim 1 wherein said legs are on an arc and extend forwardly toward the free end.
