IIVIPROVED ANKLE-SUPPORT FOR SKATERS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MosEs O. HAIGHT, of the city of Buffalo, county of Erie, and State of New York, have iiivented a new and Improved Ankle-Supporter to be Used in Connection with Skates while Skating; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in which the figure is a full and clear drawing of the same, which may be made of any metal of suficient strength and elasticity to successfully recover its natural position after forced deviation.
To enable any one to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and the operation thereof.
A is the upright part of the supporter, extending from the bottom ofV the boot-heel up the back part of the leg to near the'knee-joint.
Bis the lower part of the supporter, and lies between the lower part of the boot-heel l and the upper part of the skate.
C C are two bradpoints.
D is a hole through the supporter, between the brad-points C C, to admit the heel-screw of the skate, and when firmly screwed into the boot-heel brings the heel-plate of the skate up solid against the supporter and presses the two brad-points C G into the heel of the boot, and firmly holding the supporter in its place at the lower portion thereof.
E is a strap and buckle attached to the upper end of the supporter by a rivet at F, and encircles the leg` just below the knee-joint, thus securing the upper portion'of the supporter.
G is an angle-brace to strengthen the supporter where it is subjectto the most strain, the whole making a firm, substantial, cheap, and durable supporter.
What I claim as my invention is- The device consisting of the parts A, B, C, D, E, F, and G, constructedv and arranged as described.
