Definitions

  • An eyeshield having a frame including a pair of bowshaped members which are connected to each other and provided with means for holding the frame in front of the eyes of the user and in which artificial eyelashes connected to the bow-shaped members of the frame projecting forwardly from the latter.
  • the object of the present invention is an eyeshield fitted with eyelashes or the like.
  • the eyeshield according to the invention consists of a mount, preferably in a plastic material, to be fitted on the nose, as in the case of spectacles, by means of a pince-nez clamp or a conventional spectacle-frame, and the said eyeshield element being formed of imitation eyelashes.
  • the present invention is also to be understood as including various types of eyeshield, such as those in which the eyelashes are incorporated in the mount so as to form a single piece with the same, or those where the eyelashes are attached to the mount either by means of an adhesive substance or are first assembled on a support and then inserted, whether by means of an adhesive or by pegging, slotting or other means, in a seating prepared for the said support in the mount.
  • various types of eyeshield such as those in which the eyelashes are incorporated in the mount so as to form a single piece with the same, or those where the eyelashes are attached to the mount either by means of an adhesive substance or are first assembled on a support and then inserted, whether by means of an adhesive or by pegging, slotting or other means, in a seating prepared for the said support in the mount.
  • the eyelashes of the present invention may be attached to the front face, the lower edge or the upper edge of the mount.
  • FIG. 1 shows a front perspective view of an eyeshield in which the eyelashes form a single piece with the mount, the said mount being fitted to the nose by means of a pince-nez clamp;
  • FIG. 2 illustrates another type of eyeshield, in which the eyelashes are assembled on a support inserted in a frontally placed seating on the mount, this last being of the spectacle-frame type;
  • FIG. 3 shows another type of eyeshield in which the eyelashes, assembled on a support, are attached to the mount by means of a crosspiece that is either pegged or screwed to the said mount;
  • FIG. 3a shows a cross-section taken along the line 3a3a of FIG. 3;
  • FIGS. 4-9 show, in section, various types of eyelashes and their attachment to the mount.
  • the bow-shaped members 1 project to opposite side of the bridge-shaped member 1' and artifical eyelashes 2 integrally formed with the bow-shaped members 1 project forwardly therefrom.
  • the frame F may be held on the nose of a user with pincenez clamps 3 connected in any suitable manner well known in the art to the legs of the U-shaped bridge member 1'.
  • FIG. 4 shows a cross-section through one of the bowshaped members 1 and one of the eyelashes projecting therefrom and this figure shows clearly that the bowshaped members and eyelashes are integrally connected to each other.
  • FIG. 2 illustrates a second embodiment of an eyeshield according to the present invention.
  • the eyeshield shown in FIG. 2 differs from that shown in FIG. 1 in that the frame F is provided with earpieces 4 instead of pincenez clamps for holding the frame in front of the eyes of the user.
  • the earpieces 4 are hingedly attached, as in common spectacle frames, to the outer ends of the bowshaped members 1a.
  • the modification shown in FIG. 2 differs also from that in FIG. 1 in that the eyelashes 2a are not integrally formed with the bow-shaped members 1a, but connected to an elongated member 5a from which the eyelashes 2a project forwardly in a direction trans verse to the elongated member.
  • the bowshaped members 1a are formed respectively with elongated grooves 6rz of a cross-section as best shown in FIG. 5 in which the elongated support members 5a are inserted and thus connected to the bow-shaped members 1a.
  • the grooves 6a may be formed in the front faces of the bowshaped members 1a and be of a configuration as shown in FIG. 5 so that the elongated support member 5a in the rear portions of the eyelashes 2a are encompassed by the groove.
  • the grooves may also be formed in the bottom faces of bow-shaped members 1b and have a substantially rectangular configuration as shown at 6b in FIG. 6 in which the elongated supporting members 5b and the eyelashes 2b connected thereto will have a configuration as also shown in this figure.
  • each of the bow-shaped members 1d is provided in the front face thereof with a wide substant ally rectangular groove 6d in which a correspondingly shaped connecting member 5d is inserted from which the eyelashes 2d project forwardly therefrom
  • each of the bow-shaped members 1e is provided in the top face thereof with an open substantially rectangular configurated groove 62 in which a correspondingly shaped supporting member Se is inserted from which the eyelashes 22 project laterally and forwardly as shown in FIG. 9.
  • the elongated supporting members are preferably cemented in the respective grooves by any suitable adhesive.
  • FIG. 7 shows a further modification in which the frame member 10 is provided with a groove 6c forming a seating portion for the supporting member 5c of substantially circular cross-section from which the eyelashes 20 project forwardly.
  • the support member 5c is pressed against the seat portion of the groove by an elongated flexible member 7 which in turn is fixed to the bow-shaped member.
  • the supporting members 50 with the eyelashes projecting therefrom are therefore removably held in the bow-shaped members of the frame.
  • FIG. 3 shows a further modification in which the frame F" is substantially of the same configuration as shown in FIG. 2 and has also earpieces hingedly attached thereto.
  • the eyelashes 2 are fixed to an elongated strip-shaped supporting member 5, and these supporting members are connected to the bow-shaped members of the frame F" by screws or picks.
  • An eyeshield comprising a frame consisting of a bride member and a pair of bow-shaped members connected to and respectively projecting to opposite sides of said bridge-shaped member and having outer free ends; a pair of artifical eyelash units each including an elongated support member and a row of artifical eyelashes firmly secured to said elongated support member along the length thereof and projecting forwardly therefrom; attaching means attaching each of said eyelash units to the corresponding bow-shaped member by fixedly securing said elongated support members to said bow-shaped members extending in longitudinal direction thereof; and means connected to said frame for holding the bow-shaped members with the artifical eyelash units attached thereto above the eyes of a user so that said eyelashes will form a shield for the eyes.
