- Adjustment of the gap between a first pair of rolls 1 and 2 is effected by raising or lowering the roll 1 in relation to the roll 2 through the intermediary of a gear box 5.
- Compensation for deflection of the roll 1 caused by the passage of material through the nip of the rolls is provided by setting it obliquely in relation to the roll 2. This oblique setting is provided by gears 6 and 7. The deflection is small and takes place in each roll in a vertical plane. The obliquity of the roll axes is adjusted in a horizontal plane.
- the gap between the rolls 2 and 3 is adjusted by the raising or lowering guides 8 and therefore both of the rolls 3 and 4 (second pair of rolls) are mounted in the guides 8.
