Since the length of material to be accommodated by such accumulators or loopers is a direct function of their length and the number of tracks, their size and complexity grow with the length required, and the threading of such devices is often elaborate and time consuming. Rotary motion by some members of such devices serves primarily or entirely the purpose of con-' veying the line of material inprocessand providing angular compensation for length variations.
