HENRY H. REYMER, OF BELLEFONTAINE, 4`.OI-HO.
COVER FOR SUGAR-BUCKETS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 447,082, dated February 24, 1891.
Application led August 23, 1890. Serial No. 362,884. (No model.) I
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY H. REYMER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Bellefontaine, in the county of Logan and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Cover for Sugar-Buckets, of which the following is a speciication. Y
My invention relates to improvements in covers for bucket-s or other vessels used in maple-sugar camps, and to the means of attaching the cover to the vessel.
Figure l is a perspective view; Fig. 2, a side view showing my device attached to a bucket in position at the foot of a tree; Fig. 8, the spring-clamp attached to a bucket; Fig'. 4, a perspective bottom view of bucket-cover.
The construction and operation of my device are as follows: A piece of wire A-say eighteen inches to two feet long-is bent in its middle to form the loop B. About four inches from the bend of the loop both ends are bent down nearly at right angles and then bent np on themselves again, forming the loops O D. The' ends are then lapped over to give A sheet of tin or other material E, large enough to cover a crock or bucket properly and having the ledges F G at its sides, has a pocket H on its under side. The spring-loop B of the Wire is sprung into this by pressing the front sides toward each other. The loop D is then sprung down over the edge of the bucket I and the bucket set so that the inner edge of the cover Will come against the bark of the tree. The edge of the cover next the tree may be straight or convex, as shown in Fig. 4, to fit the tree more closely.
The flare of the bucket will throw the loop B of the spring-clamp at such an incline as to carry the rain-Water off and allow the spile K to project between it and the top of the bucketjor, should the vessel have straight sides, the loop may be readily bent up to give the desired angle.
The spring-wire A, bent to form the loops B C D, in combination vith the bucket-cover E, having the pocket H to receive the loop B,
as and for the purpose set forth.
HENRY H. REYMER. Witnesses:
NED CAMPBELL, E. K. CAMPBELL.
