Description
(No Model.)
J.N.GARPENT-E I. MUSIC SHEET TURNER.
Patented Sept. 19, 1893.
A TTOHNE).
UNITED STATES PATENT FFICE.
JOHN N. CARPENTER, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
MUSIC-SHEET TURNER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 505,307, dated September 19, 1893.
Application filed March 25, 1898- Serial No. 467,537. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern;
. Be it known that I, J OHN N. CARPENTER, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Music-Sheet- Turners, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings.
My invention consists of a music sheet turner formed of a rotating standard, and arms thereon provided with clamps for holding the sheet.
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a music sheet turner embodying my invention. Fig. 2 represents a horizontal section of a portion on line w, as, Fig. 1, on an enlarged scale.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the two figures.
Referring to the drawings: A designates a music sheet turner, which is composed of a rotating standard or rod 0, a bend on said rod forming a crank or finger piece, whereby the standard may be rotated; the vertically-adjustable arms E on said standard, and extending on opposite sides thereof, the screws F on said arm, whereby the latter maybe held at any desired height, and spring clamps G and G which are attached to the arms E, and adapted to clamp and hold music sheets thereon.
In order to connect the device with a piano or other musical instrument or stand, I employ a step or socket B, which receives the lower end of the standard, as the bearing thereof and is secured to the instrument or stand.
The operation of the device is as follows: The arms are adjusted to the desired height,
and sheets of music are atfixed to said arms,
between the spring clamps G and G so as to depend therefrom in front of the performer, it being evident that as the standard is turned, the said sheets are successively brought toward the performer as required.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A music sheet turner consisting of a rotatable standard having a bend therein forming a finger piece, a vertically adjustable arm secured on said standard and extending on opposite sides thereof and clamps on said arm, said parts being combined substantially as described.
2. A music sheet turner consisting of a standard provided with a finger piece, a vertically-adjustable arm on said standard, means for retaining said arm in adjusted position, clamps for holding the sheets on the said arm, and a step or socket in which the standard is mounted, substantially as described.
JOHN N. CARPENTER.
