IMPROVED EGG-BEATER.

Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 54,776edated May 15, 1866.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ALEXANDER M. ROBIN- SON, of Boston, Suffolk county, State of Massachusetts, have invented a new, useful, and Improved Egg-Beater; and Ido hereby declare the following description and accompanying drawings are sufficient to enable any person skilled in the art or science to which it most nearly appertains to make and use my said invention or improvements without further invention or experiment.

The nature of my invention and improvements consists in the peculiar construction and arrangement of the parts or devices described and claimed in the following specification.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is an elevation ot' my improved egg-beater. Fig. 2 is a section of Fig. l, cut perpendicularly through the center; Fig. 3,a view of the upper end.

In the above-mentioned drawings, A is a case, made of tin or other material in the form shown, or in such other form as will answer the purpose intended.

The upper end, B, of the case A is made conical or funnel-shaped inward, as shown in Fig. 2, with an opening' in the center closed by the cover C, which has two notches, D D, in it, so as to be pushed in between the lugs E E and turned by the handle F s0 as to catch under the lugs, which hold it I'n while the case is shaken to beat the eggs.

On the inside of the case A, I fasten a series of perpendicular serrated ribs, H H, as shown in Fig. 2, with the points of the serrations projecting in toward the center of the case, so that as the egg is shaken from one end to the other the points of the ribs will tear or cut it up and mix the yellr with the white, requiring a very little shaking to beat the egg perfectly; and when so beaten the cork G may be drawn and the case held over the vessel to receive the beaten egg, and the cover O removed, when the beaten egg will run out. After it has run out the cork G may be inserted and another egg put in at the upper end and the cover O putin, the case shaken to repeat the operation. It is a great advan` tage to make the ends of the case conical or funnellshaped and openings at both ends, one end to facilitate putting the eggs in and the other to facilitate emptying them but when beaten.

What Iclaim as my invention in the above-` described egg-beater is- The funnel-shaped ends, in combination with the ribs soldered to the sides of the ease.
