To all whom it may concern.-

Be it kn own that I, RICHARD A. I'IAEGELIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Joseph, in the county of Buchanan and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Pencil- Holder, Spectacle-Case, &c.; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to makeand use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and

to the letters of reference marked thereon,-

which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in pencil-holders; and it has for its object the production of a combined pencil-holder and spectacle pocket or holder adapted to be secured on the back of a memorandum-book or the like.

In carrying out my invention I form a pocket or case from any suitable material, the same comprising a curved plate tapered at one end and having side flanges extended above the body portion to fold over the upper edge of the cover of a memorandumbook and at their lower contiguous ends extended to form a pin or point, two or more vertically-disposed ring-like supports being formed on one of the side flanges and additional fastening means provided for the intermediate portion of the device, all as fully described in the following specification and particularly set forth in the appended claim.

Referring to the drawings, A designates a pocket or the like formed by bowing or bulging a piece of sheet metal or the like at a, the same having a lower contracted or pointed end a and is provided with side flanges (L The flanges a are provided with upwardlyextended ends I), which are designed to be folded over the upper edge of the back B of a memorandum-book or the like. pocket and side flanges thereof converge downward, and the plate of which they are formed is extended to present a lower pin or point b which is also designed to be passed through said cover.

D D designate two or more ring-like portions which are secured upon or formed integral with one of the flanges a said rings being arranged to coincide one above the other, and are designed to support a pencil E or the like.

The advantages of my invention are at once apparent from the foregoing. It will be seen that my improved pocket may be secured to the back of any memorandum-book now in use and that it does not deface the same, and it will be specially observed that by means thereof a memorandum-book, pencil and spectacle case are combined in a simple and compact form.

While I have described my invention as applied to a memorandum book, it will be understood that I do not limit myself thereto, for the same may be combined with any suitable object which will form a support therefor. It will be also understood that while I have described the pocket as being made of sheet metal the same may be made of any preferred or suitable material.

I claim as my invention- A combined spectacle case and pencilholder, comprising a back plate and a front plate, the latter tapered to a point at its lower end and having extensions at its upper and lower ends forming attaching-prongs, the said plate being bulged outward centrally from its top to near the bottom forming the front portion of a pocket and providing bearing-flanges at the sides and lower end of said 7 pocket, one of the side flanges having slits therein near its upper and lower ends; together with short tubes provided with integral prongs which are passed through the aforesaid slits and the back plate, and prongs carried by the opposite flange, as herein shown and described.
