Description
No. 625,680. Patented May 23,1899. J. w. JACK.
TOY.
(Application filed Dec. 27, 1898.)
(No Model.)
fly. 1 my UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH W. JACK, OF TRURO, CANADA.
TOY.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 625,680, dated May 23, 1899. Application filed December 27, 1898. Serial No. 700,334. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOSEPH W. J AOK, a British subject, residing at Truro, in the county of Oolchester, Province of Nova Scotla, and Dominion of Canada, have invented a new and useful Toy,of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a toy comprising, a cylindrical ring and ball, the ring so constructed and manipulated that the ball placed on the interior is caused to travel rapidly around the circle.
In the accompanying drawings, which illustrate one method of constructing my invention, Figure 1 is an elevation of the toy looking through the ring and showing the ball in place. Fig. 2 is an edge elevation of the same.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout both views.
a C6 are two wire rings of which the ring proper is formed. They are placed parallel to each other and held at a sufficient distance apart by the clip 0 and the wooden handle I] to form the track f, in which the ball d is made to travel.
To operate the toy, hold the ring by the handle b and place the ball 11 in the track f. Then by imparting a peculiar oscillating motion to the ring the ball is caused to move rapidly in its orbit, the ring being held either perpendicular or horizontal or at any angle between.
I do not confine the construction of my invention to the manner illustrated, as the ring, its track, and handle may be constructed by difierent methods; but
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A toy comprising the combination of the wire rings, a, a, the handle, b, the clip c, the track or course, f, and the ball d; substan tially as and for the purpose hereinbefore set forth.
JOSEPH W. JACK. Witnesses: H
