Description

ginith tates Estant @Hita BENSON MAYo, 0F GHATHAM, MASSACHUSETTS.
Letters Patent No. 71,031, 'dated November 19, 1867.
IMPROVE-:D WINDOW-BLIND FASTENING.
To ALL WHOM IT MAY coNcERN; 3
Be it known that I, BENSON MAYO, of Chatham, in the county of Barnstable, and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Window-Blind Fastening; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those-skilled in the art to make and use the saine, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is afront outside view of a window having my improved fastening for the blind.
Figure 2 is a horizontal cross-section looking downwards, taken in the line :v rv, iig. 1.
Figure 3, a vertical section, taken in the line y y, fig. 2.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
This invention relates to an improved fastening for window-blinds, and consists in a device which catches and holds the blinds either open or closed alike, as hereinafter more particularly described.
On the bottom edge of' each blind A is fastened a metal spur, a, projecting downwards, and on the sill B of the window-frame C is fastened a latch-spring, b, which catches the sp'ur a when the blind is closed, to hold it in place. In front of the latch-spring b is placed a guard, c, to protect the end, and prevent it from catching against clothing. Bracket-rests d are fastened to the house on each side of the Window-frame C, on each of which rests is fastened a latch-spring, b', which catches the spur a, to hold the blind in place when opened, in
the same manner that it is held by the spring b when closed. The bracket-rest d also supports the blind, andV protects the spring b', by preventing sagging of the blind.
Having described my invention, I claim as new, and desire' to secure by Letters Patent` The combination of the spur a, the latch-springs b b', the guard c, the bracket-rest d, and the Window-blind A, arranged andoperating substantially as and for the purpose herein described. t
