TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, D. A. WHITE, of ChugriirFnlls,-in the county of Cuyahoga, and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and'u'seful Improvements in Stove-Dampors; and I do herebydeclare `that: the following is a. full and complete description ofthessme, reference being` had to the accompanying drawings, making a `part of this specification, inwhich- Figure 1 is a. plan view.

In Vthe drawing, A represents a. plate or disk, which forms the damper, and is placed in the pipe in any desirable manner. This disk is provided with a. number of' projections or deiectors, B, more or less in number, as maybe desired. C is the handle for turning said damper.
This plate or disk is made convex, as shown in lig. 2, the purpose of which is to couuterbalanee the Weight of the deectors B, so that, in Whatever` position it is turned, it will sustain itself 4without the aid of n. stay or brace. i v l In the dampersnow 1n use, the opening for the smoke to pass out when the damper is closed is made in the centre of the disk, or a. slot out from side to side, as muy he desired. In this way, the heat that will pass upwith the smoke is carried up through the centre of the. pipe, but, with the openings :tt4 the side, the defiections will throw the heat, as it rises up, against the pipe, and the smoke pnss up and out. Thus,` the heat that would pass out through the centre of the pipe in the use of the old dempers is (by the dveectors oh this damper when in use) thrownout against the pipe, andaids in heating the room in which the stove is placed- This damper can he attached. to any pipe, and can be seemed in the ordinary way.
What I claim as my improvement, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The herein-described stpvefdamper, consisting of the convex disk A and dclectors B, constructed and arranged in the manner as end for the purpose specified.
