Description

No. 791,274. PATENTBD MAY3o,1905. `L. LEWIS.
WASHBASIN. Y APPLIOATION FILED AUG. 22. 1904A.'
UNITED STATES Patented May 30, 1905.
LEOPOLD LEWIS, OF STRASSBURG, GERMANY.
WASHBASIN SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0. 791,274,1dated May 30, 1905. Application tied August 2z, 1904. serial No. mm2'`I To all whoml it may con/cern:
Be it known that I, LEOPOLD LEWIS, a subject of the German Emperor, residing at Strassburg, Alsace,'Gerinany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Washbasins, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in washbasins, and has for its object to effect a decrease in the usual number of parts of toilet sets of earthenware or porcelain by combining the washbasin and soap-tray as one and constructing the latter to operate also as handholds or handles.
The invention is illustrated in the accom panying drawings, in which*- Figure l indicates my improved washbasin, one half being in elevation and the other half in section; and Fig. 2 shows a plan view of the invention.
Referring to the drawings, w indicates the basin proper, which, as will be noted, is provided on opposite sides with an ear, which also are formed to serve as soap-trays. The wall of the basin, at the points where the soaptrays are formed,'is provided with small apertures r, through which the fluid, which will usually be conveyed to the soap-trays in use, will have an outlet. This is facilitated by the curved form of the bottom of the` soap-trays,
which inclines toward the said apertures,.as
'indicated in the drawings by the letter b.
The invention above described not only permits of ready transportation of the washba-y holds and affording receptacles for soap, the v wall of the basin being apertured in the plane of the bottoIn of said receptacles, for the purpose described.
. 2. A washbasin of earthenware or porcelain, provided on opposite exterior sides with integral ears affording receptacles, the wall of the basin at the points corresponding to these receptacles being apertured; said receptacles being designed t0 serve as soap-trays and the apertures permitting any iuid to run from the soap-trays back into the basin.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set l my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
LEOPOLD LEWIS.
