BED-FRAME.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 793,361, dated June 27, 1905.

The frame consists of the side bars A and the end bars B, secured together in any suitable manner and preferably constructed of iron. end bars B,I attach one end of the narrow metallic strips O O", respectively. The strips (J (1' are connected by the spring I), united to the end of each of said strips, said strips being separated from each other except for the connection of said spring. To the projecting end of each end bar B B, I secure the said staystrips E, F, (1, and H, respectively. The strips E and F on one side of the bed-frame preferably extend toward the center of the frame as well as toward each other, and each has attached to it a spring f, respectively,

said springs being united to the said strips E and F at or near their ends, respectively, the opposite ends of sald sprlngs being secured to the lazy-tongs J at one of the angles j of said tongs. The said strips G and H are likewise provided with the springs 7 and A, and said springs are connected at l to the lazy-tongs .I. The lam-tongs .I are also connected at K and L with the strips O and O, respectively. 'hat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is.

1. In a bed; a bed-frame; six strips three extending from each end of the bed-frame toward the center thereof; four centrally-dis posed strips pivoted together at their ends forming a lax,\'-tongs; springs secured to the opposite ends of said lazy-tongs, where two of the strips which go to make up said tongs are pivoted together, two of the first-mentionedoppositely-located strips, respectively; the remaining two strips first mentioned secured to the said lazy-tongs with a spring connecting the ends of said last-111entioncd strips, all substantially as described.

In a bed; a frame, the ends of which extend beyond the side pieces thereof; two strips extending to a point within the frame from each end of the frame from points beyond the side pieces thereof; two strips extending from about midway between the ends of each end piece of the frame toward the center thereof; a spring connecting the two last-mentioned strips; springs attached to the ends of each of the first-mentioned strips and secured to the point of connection of the ends of two pivotally-connected strips, respectively, the

other two ends of said last-mentioned strips pivoted together in connection with the strips extending from the central portion of each end of the frame toward the center, as aforesaid, substantially as described.
