Be it known that I, EBEN HESTER, of Suield, infthe county of Hertford, and Stute of Connecticut, have invented a. new and usefulrmprovement in Belt-Tools; and I do hereby declare' that lthe following is fnl1,.olear, and eziactdescription.thereof, which will enable othersskilled in the art to make -and use the same, :reference being had to vthe.a.ccornpanying drawings, forming part of this specification, iniwhich- Figure 1 is a. side view of my invention.

Similar letters of referencel indicate like parts.4 I g l The object of this Ainvention is to furnish a. convenient tool for tting belts for machinery.

It consists of a. square shank, B, set in a handle, A, and bearing two punches, b and ol, for cutting holes in l the belt, and two punches, e andf, having hollow or concave points for heading rivets. Y

It is alsoprovided with a. flat lacing-awl, a, haring an eye, g, for carrying the leather lacing-strip.

The awl and the ,punches are detachable,'if desired, but the tool is intended to`be used as it is shown, the shank beingturned to present the proper punch required, the nt head of which is struck uponby a hammer.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A belt-tool, constructed substantiallyes and for the purposes described.
