Description

No. 811,334. PATENTED JAN. 30, 1906. I. SMIGEL.
DESK PAD. APPLICATION TILED SEPT.30.195.
ners of the desk-blotter.
-'UNrrnn srarns PATENT orron. ISAAC SMIGEL, OF EAST CRAN-SE, NEW JERSEY.
DESK-PAD.
i Patented Jan. 30, 1906.
Application filed September 30, 1905. Serial No. 280,758.
To {1J/Z whom it may concern.-
Beit known that I, ISAAC SMIGEL, a citizen of the United States, residing in East Orange, county of Essex, State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Desk-Pads, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings, 1n which- Figure l is a plan view of the pad; Fig. 2, a sectional view on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 a sectional view on the line 3 3 of Fig. l.
The object of the invention is to provide a pad in the usual form and having cornerpockets to receive the corners of a blotter. In addition to these main corner-pockets the pad is provided with supplemental pockets formed in the top pieces of the main pockets, these supplemental pockets being adapted to receive calendar-pads or memorandum pads or cards or cards bearing any desired memorandum. These supplemental pockets are also designed to receive blank cards or slips of paper on which any desired memorandum may be written or pictures or photographs.
Referring to the various parts by numerals, 1 designates the pad proper; 2, the main pockets, which are adapted to receive the cor- Formed in the corner-pieces which constitute the top of the corner-pockets 2 are supplemental pockets 3,
these supplemental pockets being provided with bottom pieces 4. The opening into these vsupplemental pockets is at the inner edge of the main pockets, as shown clearly in Figs. 2 and 3. In the top of the main pockets openings 5 are formed, through which the contents of the supplemental pockets may be viewed. Into these supplemental pockets cards 6 may be inserted, as shown clearly in Figs. 2 and 3, said cards'being readily removable through the opening into said pocket at the inner edge of the top piece of the main pocket. I prefer to print on some of these cards calendars, as shown in the lower lefthand corner of Fig. 1, said cards being readily changed at the end of each month. I also intend to use these pockets for the reception of pictures, said pictures being viewed throuoh the openings 5, as shown in the upper le 'thand corner of Fig. 1. It will be readily seen that these supplemental pockets may be used for a-great variety of purposes and that the mental pocket or to any speciiic construction thereof, as said pocket may be made in any desired manner and of any desired form or shape. I also desire it understood that the shape of the opening through the top piece of the main pocket may be of any desired shape or size, the elliptical form being shown merely by way of illustration and not with a view of limiting the invention to that shape of opening.
I-Iaving thus described my invention, what I claim isl. A desk-pad provided with main cornerpockets adapted to receive the corners of a blotter, the top pieces of said corner-pockets being formed with supplemental pockets open at the inner edges of said main pockets, openings being formed through the tops of said main pockets into the supplemental pockets, whereby the contents of the supplemental poclets may be viewed through the openings in the tops of the main pockets.
2. A desk-pad provided with main cornerpoclets formed with top pieces, and supplemental pockets formed in said top pieces.
3. A desk-pad provided with main cornerpockets formed with top pieces and supplemental pockets formed in said top pieces, the entrance to said supplemental pockets being at the inner edges of said top pieces, said top pieces being formed with openings through which the contents of 'the supplemental pockets may be viewed. Y
4. A desk-pad provided with main pockets at its corners, the top piece of one of said pockets being provided with a supplemental y ISAAC SMIGEL.
