WILSON B. HILDENBRAND, OF NORBISTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA.
CHECK-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed April. 27, 1908.
Patented April 13, 1909.
Serial No. 423,331.
T o all whom it 'may concern.'
Be it known that l, VILSON B. HiLDnN- mann, a citizen of the United States, residi ing at Norristown, in the county of Montgomery and State of Pennsylvania, have inventedcertain new and useiul Improvements in Check-Holders, of which the iollowing is a specification.
This invention relates to checlr holders for holding checks used in barber check systems, the object being to provide very novel leans for supporting the checks so that they an be readily inserted and removed.
The holder consists of a back adapted to be secured to a wall or any other suitable object having a pair of guide strips secured on its face forming guide-way, between which the cheeks are arranged in consecutive order, the guide strip being provided with spring members at their lower ends for holding the cheeks in position, and allowing the same to be readily removed.
These objects are obtained by the novel arrangement and construction or' parts hereinaite" fully described and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l, is a perspective view ot my improved check holder. Fig. 2, is a vertical section through the same, and Fig. 3, is a transverse sec-tion.
ln carrying ont my improved invention l employ a bach board A, which is of any suitablev design having -a notch A', at its lower end, adapted to be secured Ato the wall or any other suitable support.
Secured on the :tace of the back is a pair of guide strips B, B', forming a guide-way, which extend down below the end of 'the notch and are provided with ilat spring members C, at their loweil end, which normally rest against the back and are adapted to support the numbered checks D, arranged between the guide strips. The guide strip B, is longer than the guide strip B', and is provided with a cut out portion B2, at its upper end, whereby the checks can be readily inserted between the same.
ln use the checks are arranged between the guide strips as shown at l? l, and as a person enters the shop, he is given a check so that he will know when his turn comes to receive a chair, and after it is turned in, it placed in the upper end of the guide-way.
liroin the foregoing description it will be seen that l have provided a check holder which is exceedingly simple and cheap in construction, and one which will hold the eher-ks in position "ithout any danger or Vthem falling` out, and yet allowing the same to be readily removed by simply grasping the lower check and pulling the same out trom under the springs, the notei allowing the fingers to be readily inserted under the check. v
l-laving described my invention what l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters lf'arent' is :se
A eheclr holder or' the kind described coinprising a baclrbcard having a notched lower end, guide strips arranged on said backboard forming a guide way to receive checks and having inwardly projecting longitudinal tlanges, one or' said guide strips at its upper end being longe-r than the other and having the inwardly projecting frange cut away, the lower ends ot' said strips being longitudinally slotted parallel to said backboard, and i'iat independent spring members inserted in said slots and extending' inwardly and downwardly against the lower ends or said bacl'zboard on either side of said central notch and bearing against said backboard for supporting the checks within the gnideway.
ln testimony whereof l have signed my name to this speciiication in the presence ot two subscribing witnesses.
