GEORGES GHRISTODULE, OF PARIS, FRANCE.
HERNIA-TRUSS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed December 23, 1907.
Patented June 1, 1909.
Serial No. 407,706.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Gnonens OHRIs'rO- DULE, engineer, subject of Greece, residing at 19 Rue Pierre Levee, Paris, in the Republic of France, have invented new and useful Improvements in Hernia-Trusses, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a hernial truss.
In the annexed drawing, Figure 1 is a vertical section of the truss, Fig. 2 is a plan, the belt being removed, and Figs. 3, 4 and 5 show detail views, in plan, of the collar or washer which holds the spring in position.
In the drawing, a represents the cushion or compressor pad, I) the shackle for securing the spring to the cushion, c, c the collars insuring rigidity to the spring, d the said spring, and f the disk securing the belt to the collar 0. The shackle b is fixed to the pad by means of screws 9 and holds the spring by a pivot h entering a perforation. A central screw j threaded into the collar 0 holds the spring on the shackles b with the aid of a small screw 10: To allow of assembling the parts and to make the spring fast, the collar 0 has a groove m in which is engaged the end coil of the'spring 01 so as to revent the latter from turning: Next the belt is the collar 0 with a groove or notch similar to that of the collar 0 for holding the other end coil of the spring. The extremity t of the spring is engaged in a disk f which is secured on the collar 0 by means of a small screw p, this collar finally securing the belt 6 by means of a fixing screw-n. The pad and the spring may be covered either with leather or with cloth.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A hernial truss comprising in combination a belt 6, a cushion or compressor pad a, a coil spring (1 the ends of which are bent up so as to form pivots h 'L, a shackle b fixed to the pad and provided with a hole in which is to be engaged one of the bent up ends h of the coil spring, a disk f fixed to the belt e and provided with a hole in which is to be engaged the other bent up end i of the coil spring, grooved collars c 0 adapted to engage respectively the last coils of the spring d, having a peripheric recess to aflord passage to the bent up ends of the coil spring, and secured respectively by means of screws 1) p to the disk f and the shackle b, and screws n j securing respectively the grooved collars c c to the disk f and shackle 6, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
GEORGES CHRISTODULE.
