IMPRO'VEMENT IN BUTTONS.

Thc Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and-making part of the same To all whom i t mag/concern Beit known that I, JOHN KENMUIR, of Leavenworth, in the county of Leavenworth, and State of Kansas, have invented a new and improved Sleeve-y same, reference being had to the accompanying drawv ing, forming part'of this specification.

lille invention relates to sleeve-buttons, and `consist's in a certain construction of parts, which will be more particularly described hereafter. f

Figure l represents a transverse section through a button provided with my improvement, and

Figure 2 represents a horizontal section ot the same.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

A is the disk of the button, having a rim, B, at the rear side, which supports a auge, or it may be a disk, C, forming an annular space, wherein I place a spring, l), for holding a sliding catch, E.

F is a bent hook, hinged at G, and bent so as to pass through the two parts ofthe sleeve, and then up against the disk A, opposite the hinge-joint G, and

through the disk or flange C, also through the sliding catch E, working radially through the rim B, so that the lip H will engage the catch, which, being forced inward against the spring by the lip H, when passing through, will be thrown buck again by the spring when the lip passes the catch.

A stem of the catch projects through the rim Bcf the but-ton, for forcing it back against the spring Afor disengaging it. l

The flange C protects the catch E from the strain of the sleeve in the lateral direction.

Having thus described my invention,

I claim as new, and desire to securc by. Letters Patent- A sleeve-button, having an annular spring D, catch E E, hook F, and case -B, each constructed and arranged with respect to t-he other in the manner described.
