Description

@nimh gratas @anni @fitte J. H. GARNHAR'I, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
Design INT0. 3,003, dated April 21, 1868.
DESIGN FOR A TRADE-MARK.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, J. H. GARNIIART, of St. Louis, in the county of St. Louis, and State of Missouri, have made a certain new and useful Design for a Trade-Mark, it being a. brand for whiskey-barrels; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and clear description thereof', reference being had to the .accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
This design relates to a trade-mark for whiskey-barrels or half barrels, and will be readily understood by reference to the accompanying drawings, which represent the design in a clear and perspicnous manner.
The drawings represent the head of a. barrel bearing my trade-mark design.
The field of the barrel-head a should be painted a green color, and across the face of it will be printed or painted the outline of a large anchor, A. Across thc face ofthe stock of the anchor will be printed or painted the naine J. II. Garnharts, and on the face of the lukes the lword Whiskey," while on the shank may be placed thc words indicating the kind or quality of whiskey, as, for instance, Old Rye, Bourbon, fte., 82e. Of course, the precise size ofthe anchor will not be of any particular account, neither will the coloring of the lettering; but I prefer to make the whole of the anchor and lettering in such a manner as to readily paint it on the harrelhend through a stencil-plate. The formation of the general plan of the anchor is peculiar in this particular-'the ends of the barbs reach nearly to and overlap the ends of the stock, and the barbs themselves are rather disproportionately large. One principal difference between this and other anchor-brands consists in placing all of lthe lettering of the brand upon the anchor-stock.
Having described my invention, what I claim, is
The design for a. trade-mark, consisting ofthe anchor A, and such lettering or marking thereon as is herein Arepresented and described.
