Description

May 1'7 1960 E. G. FISHER Plant Pat. 3,945
ROSE PLANTS Filed May 5, 1959 Inventor Esther 674d Fisher United States Patent ice ROSE PLANT l Esther Gladys Fisher, Woburn, Mass assignor to The Cunard-Pyle Company, West Grove, Pa,, 21 corpora- {ion of Pennsylvania The present invention relates to a new and distinct variety of rose plantof the hybrid tea class, which was v,
originated by me by crossing the varietyP-eace (Plant Patent No. 591) with the variety Orange Nassau (Plant Patent No. 350'). The primary objective ofthis breeding was to produce a new rose variety which would combine the vigor, bloom copper-orange color tones of Orange Nassau. I As a result of this breeding, I have produced; a new rose variety which is distinctly different from both its parents, as well as all other varieties of its class of which I am aware, as evidenced by the following characteristics which are outstanding and which in combination are unique:
I (1) The Rose Opal general'color tonality which is suffused with vEmpire Yellow around the margin of the flower with the center showing Aureolin 3;
(2) The glossy green foliage;
(3) The bushy well branched habit of growth;
(4) The graceful long pointed bud.
Asexual reproduction of my new variety at West Grove, Pennsylvania, shows that the aforementioned characteristics come true to form and are established and transmitted through succeeding propagations.
The accompanying drawing shows typical specimens of the growth and flower of my new variety in different stages of development and as depicted in color as nearly true as it is reasonably possible to make the same in color illustration of this character.
The following is a detailed description of my new variety with color terminology in accordance with the Horticultural Color. Chart of the Royal Horticultural Society: 1
