Description

Jan. 28, 1975 w. w R Plant Pat. 3,611
ROSE PLANT Filed Dec. 26,
United States Patent 3,677 I ROSE PLANT William A. Warr'mer, histin, Calif., assignor to Jackson & Perkins Company, Medford, Oreg. Filed Dec. 26, 1973, Ser. No. 427,845 Int. Cl. A01h 5/00 US. Cl. Plt.17 I 1 Claim ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This present invention relates to a new and distinct cultivar of rose plant of the hybrid tea class which was originated by me by crossing the cultivar South Seas, U.S. Plant Pat. No. 2,184; with pollen from'the cultivar Hawaii, US. Plant Pat. No. 1,8 33.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The primary objective of this breeding was to produce a new rose cultivar combining the color of the male parent, Hawaii, with plant characteristics of the female parent, South Seas. This objective was substantially achieved along with other desirable improvements as evidenced by the following unique combination of characteristics which are outstanding in my new cultivar and which distinguish it from its parents as well as from all other cultivars of which I am aware:
1. An upright plant habit, more vigorous than Hawaii.
2. Foliage that is similar to that of South Seas in shape and color of leaflets.
3. A flower color similar to but deeper than that of Hawaii but does not have the characteristic of deepening with age as do flowers of South Seas.
4. Very little fragrance.
Asexual reproduction of this new cultivar by budding as performed at Wasco, Calif., shows that the foregoing characteristics and distinctions come true to form and are established and transmitted through succeeding propagatious.
