Definitions

  • This invention relates to a method and a device for breaking ampoules.
  • So-called injection ampoules of glass are normally provided with a waist portion where the ampoule is to be broken so that the liquid contents of the ampoule will be available. Breaking of the ampoule is mostly carried out so that an indication of fracture is filed in the glass at the waist of the ampoule and the ampoule is broken by hand. Then there is a risk that the ampoule is crushed in the filing operation and there is also a risk that the ampoule will be crushed at the very breaking moment. If the ampoule is crushed there are great risks of cuts in one's hands and, moreover, it may be directly unsuitable to get the contents of the ampoule on a sore hand.
  • the invention eliminates the need of the above- -mentioned filing and also simplifies the very breaking moment. Besides saving time the risk of personal injury is eliminated and the invention is thus also valuable in view of industial safety.

  • the ampoule holder is provided with recesses 3-5 which have such a form and size that they can house and fix a lower portion 22 of an ampoule 20. As there are different sizes of ampoules it is suitable to provide the ampoule holder 1 with a number of different recesses.
  • the breaking rod 2 shown has two recesses 6 and 7 of a size and form that they can house an upper portion 21 of an ampoule 20, as shown in Figs. 6 and 7.
  • the recesses 6 and 7 are preferably of different sizes so that two ampoule sizes can be managed with only one breaking rod 2.
  • An ampoule is broken by placing the ampoule 20 so that its lower portion 22 enters a recess of the ampoule holder 1 of a corresponding size, see Fig. 6.

  • the breaking rod 2 ' shown in Fig. 8 has two recesses 6' and 7', which are substantially adapted to the tapering upper portion 21 of the ampoule 20 by their form.
  • the recesses 6' and 7' offer in this way a release that facilitates the removal of the upper portion 21 of the ampoule after breaking.
  • the depths of the recesses 6' and 7' are further adapted to the length of the respective upper portion 21 so that breaking can be carried out without the risk of the lower portion 22 being damaged at the same time as a maximal lever effect is obtained.

Abstract

Un procédé et un dispositif, servant à briser des ampoules médicales en verre, utilisent un porte-ampoule (1), et une tige (2, 2') servant à briser l'ampoule. Le porte-ampoule (1) présente un évidement (3) qui peut abriter une partie inférieure (22) de l'ampoule (20). La tige (2, 2') servant à briser l'ampoule présente un évidement (6, 6') destiné à recevoir une partie supérieure (21) de l'ampoule (20). En tenant le porte-ampoule (1) avec une main et en déplaçant latéralement la tige (2, 2') servant à briser l'ampoule avec l'autre main, on brise l'ampoule (20) au niveau de sa section d'étranglement (23) sans risquer de se blesser.
