Abstract

Système amplificateur à puissance égale (100) servant à amplifier une pluralité de signaux destinés à être émis par une antenne à réseau actif piloté en phase (20), et réseau compact formant des faisceaux à plusieurs niveaux (98) pour produire une pluralité desdits signaux, par exemple selon des configurations d'excitation pour des faisceaux virtuels balayés en fréquence. Le système amplificateur utilise des amplificateurs de puissance (130, 134), dont les différences de taille sont limitées, pour amplifier efficacement de nombreux signaux possédant des amplitudes essentiellement différentes. Pour ce faire, on distribue la tâche de l'amplification de paires de signaux (Ai, Bi) composées d'un signal de grande amplitude et d'un signal de faible amplitude à un appareil amplificateur à puissance égale (130; 230), qui comprend deux coupleurs hybrides (236, 238) et deux amplificateurs de puissance de taille égale (232, 234). Le premier coupleur hybride (236) divise les deux signaux ( Ai, Bi) pour les injecter dans les deux amplificateurs de puissance. Le deuxième coupleur hybride (238) reçoit les signaux amplifiés intermédiaires des amplificateurs de puissance et produit, par interférence constructive et destructive, des signaux de sortie amplifiés (Ai*, Bi*) correspondant aux signaux d'entrée. Est également décrit un procédé permettant de sélectionner correctement des paires de signaux à partir d'une distribution d'amplitude (200; 202) afin de les appliquer aux appareils amplificateurs à puissance égale du système amplificateur, pour que les amplificateurs de puissance travaillent avec un rendement maximal ou proche de celui-ci. Le réseau formant les faisceaux (98) est agencé sur deux niveaux pour simplifier l'interconnexion entre les paires de sorties de ses additionneurs de ligne (176), destinées à être injectées dans le système amplificateur à puissance égale. Celui-ci et le réseau formant les faisceaux peuvent être utilisés ensemble, par exemple dans le système d'antenne de transmission d'un satellite géostationnaire (10) ou d'une station terrestre mobile.
