Abstract

Une démarche pour ralentir ou prévenir la progression de l'infection par VIH chez un sujet exposé à ce virus et pour prévenir l'infection par VIH chez un sujet à risque d'infection par ce virus, consiste à administrer audit sujet un complexe anticorps-antigène ou un complexe anticorps-antigène-complément dans des dosages suffisants pour empêcher par voie compétitive les complexes du VIH de se lier aux cellules par l'intermédiaire des récepteurs de Fc ou des récepteurs du complément dans le tissu lymphoïde. Cette démarche met en ÷uvre des anticorps qui se fixent sur des antigènes cellulaires pour produire des complexes antigènes-anticorps et/ou des complexes antigènes-anticorps-complément, qui à leur tour inhibent ou empêchent la fixation de complexes VIH-anticorps ou de complexes VIH-anticorps-complément ou bien de complexes VIH-complément sur des cellules dans le tissu lymphoïde. La limitation de la concentration des complexes du VIH fixés sur le tissu lymphoïde permet de diminuer la charge en cellules infectées par virus, ce qui accroît l'efficacité des agents anti-rétroviraux ainsi que l'inactivation du virus dans la circulation sanguine. Par ailleurs, la concentration réduite ou l'absence du VIH dans le tissu lymphoïde entrave l'infection des lymphocytes T CD4+ présentes.
