Abstract

Il est décrit un dispositif de transmission de données qui peut être connecté à un ordinateur central afin de lui ajouter des fonctions de transmission. Ce dispositif de transmission de données comporte un téléavertisseur/récepteur de messagerie électronique à voies multiples programmables par l'utilisateur, qui dispose de fonctions numériques et alphanumériques et d'un modem. En outre, ce dispositif de transmission de données peut s'utiliser avec l'ordinateur central comme combiné téléphonique ou comme répondeur téléphonique. Lorsque le dispositif s'utilise comme répondeur téléphonique et qu'un utilisateur désire retrouver les messages stockés, le central téléphonique local ne peut mettre un signal d'occupation rapide sur la ligne téléphonique. L'utilisateur peut actualiser le micrologiciel du dispositif de transmission de données, ou bien celui-ci peut être actualisé à distance par téléchargement d'une nouvelle version de micrologiciel à l'aide du téléavertisseur/récepteur de messagerie électronique.
