ゴム物品の典型例である空気入り夕ィャの分野においても、 近年の地球環境保 護を念頭に置いた、 車両の低燃費化に寄与させるため、 その軽量化が進められて いる。 これは、 タイヤの捕強材であるスチールコードにおいても例外ではなく、 コードの強度を大きく してタイヤ強度を保ちながら、 力一カスまたはベル卜の総 重量を軽減するために、 コード使用量を減少する試みがなされている。
しかし、 スチールコ一ドを構成する鋼素線の単位断面積当たりの引張強さを高 めると耐腐食疲労性が悪化することから、 タイヤの軽量化は実現される反面、 コ 一ドの耐久性、 ひいてはタイヤなどのゴム物品の耐久性が低下することが問題と な 。
すなわち、 タイヤはときとして路面の突起物或いは側壁の突起物などによって スチールコ一ド近傍にまで達する傷を受けることがあり、 この傷から進入した水 分によって鋼素線が腐食環境に晒される結果、 タイヤの耐久性を低下させること があり、 この現象は引張り強さの高いコ一ドほど顕著である。
この対策として、 単燃りスチールコ一ドでは鋼素線の型付けを大きく して各素 線間に隙間を設けたり、 層撚りスチールコードでは、 シースを構成する鋼素線の 本数を減らすことにより、 いずれも素線間にゴムがコード内部にまで入り込むこ とができる隙間を設けた、 いわゆるゴムベネ卜レーション構造とすることによつ て、 水分がコード内部に浸入するのを防止し、 鋼素線の腐食を抑制する方法が知 られている。
ところ力く、 例えゴムの浸入が十分であっても、 ゴム中に含まれる水分により鋼 素線の腐食が進行することがあり、 上記ゴムベネトレ一ション構造によっても耐 腐食疲労性は必ずしも改善されなかったのである。
また、 特開昭 57— 149578号公報には、 折曲一非折曲処理を交互に行うことによ つて、 ワイヤの全周面に残留圧縮応力を均一に分散させて、 疲労抵抗性を向上す る手法が提案されている。 しかしながら、 引張強さの高いコードでは、 弾性限界 が高いために、 折曲一非折曲処理による効果が十分に発揮されない不利がある。 発明の開示
そこで、 この発明は、 ゴム物品とくに空気入りタイヤのカーカスやベルトを構 成するスチールコードであって、 その鋼素線の引張り強さを高めた場合に問題と なる、 耐腐食疲労性の低下を回避し得るスチールコードについて提案することを 目的とする。
すなわち、 この発明は、 引張り強さが 4000~4800 N Z腿2 の鋼素線を 3〜 6本 撚り合わせた単撚り構造でかつ隣接鋼素線間に隙間を設けたオープンタイプのス チールコードであって、 その外周面にラッビングワイヤーを卷き付けないスチ一 ルコ一ドにおいて、 該スチールコ一ドの撚りを解して得た螺旋状の型付けが付与 された各鋼素線における螺旋の曲率半径 R。 と、 この鋼素線の螺旋内側の表層を 溶解除去した後の螺旋の曲率半径 R , との比 Z R。 が 1未満であることを特 徴とするゴム物品捕強用スチールコードである。
ここで、 隣接鋼素線間の隙間が平均値で 0. 02mm以上かつ鲷素線直径の 1. 5 倍以 下であること力く、 ゴムをコードの内部にまで浸入させるのに有利であり、 そして 鋼素線は炭素含有量: 0. 70重量%以上および直径: 0. 15~0. 28關であることが、 コード強力の向上にとつて有利である。
また、 この発明は、 引張り強さが 4000〜4800N Zmm2 の鋼素線の 1〜4本のい ずれか n本からなるコアのまわりに、 引張り強さが 4000〜4800 Nノ mm2 の鋼素線 の n + ( 2-6 ) 本からなるシースを配置した 2層撚り構造でかつシース隣接鋼 素線間に隙間を設けたゴムぺネトレ一シヨンタイプのスチールコードであって、 その外周面にラッビングワイヤーを巻き付けないスチールコードにおいて、 該ス チールコードの撚りを解して得た螺旋伏の型付けが付与された各鋼素線における 螺旋の曲率半径 R。 と、 この鋼素線の螺旋内側の表層を溶解除去した後の螺旋の 曲率半径 R, との比 R, /Ro が 1未満であることを特徴とするゴム物品補強用 スチールコードおよび、
引張り強さが 4000〜4800NZmm2 の鋼素線の 1本からなるコアのまわりに、 引 張り強さが 4000〜4800NZmm2 の鋼素線の 3〜 6本のいずれか m本からなる第 1 シースを配置し、 さらに第 1 シースのまわりに、 引張り強さが ^ΟΟ ΑδΟΟΝΖ匪 2 の鋼素線の m+ ( 2 -6 ) 本からなる第 2シースを配置した 3層撚り構造でか つシース隣接鋼素線間に隙間を設けたゴムぺネトレーシヨンタイプのスチールコ 一ドであって、 その外周面にラッビングワイヤーを巻き付けないスチールコード において、 該スチールコードの撚りを解して得た螺旋状の型付けが付与された各 鋼素線における螺旋の曲率半径 R。 と、 この鋼素線の螺旋内側の表層を溶解除去 した後の螺旋の曲率半径 R, との比 /Ro が 1未満であることを特徴とする ゴム物品補強用スチールコードである。
上記ゴムぺネ トレーショ ンタイプとは、 2層撚り構造または 3層撚り構造にお いて、 シースを構成する鋼素線間に隙間を有し、 その隙間を介してゴムがコアに まで進入し得る構造をいう。
ここで、 シース隣接鋼素線間の隙間が平均値で 0.02顏以上かつ鋼素線直径の 1. 5 倍以下であることが、 ゴムをコードの内部にまで浸入させるのに有利であり、 そして鋼素線は炭素含有量: 0.70重量%以上および直径: 0.15〜0.23龍であるこ と力 コード強力の向上にとって有利である。
さらに、 鋼素線の螺旋内側の溶解除去する表層は、 鋼素線の直径の 5 %、 さら には 10%に相当する深さであることが、 とりわけ耐腐食疲労性の向上に有利であ る。 また、 この発明は、 1対のビード部間でトロイ ド状に延びる力一カスを骨格と し、 さらにカーカスのクラウン部を少なくとも 2屨のベルトで補強した空気入り ラジアルタイャであって、 該カーカスおよびベル卜の少なくともいずれか一方を 構成するコ一ドに、 上記のスチールコ一ドを適用してなる空気入りタイヤである c ここで、 タイヤの力一カスの素材となるトリ一ト材における隣接コード間隔が 0. 6 ~0. 9 mmとなる、 スチールコードを適用することが、 有利である。
さて、 この発明のスチールコードは、 鋼素線を 3〜6本撚り合わせた単撚り構 造、 鋼素線の 1〜 4本のいずれか n本からなるコアのまわりに、 n + ( 2〜6 ) 本の鋼素線からなるシースを配置した 2層撚り構造、 または 1本の鋼素線からな るコアのまわりに、 鋼素線の 3 ~ 6本のいずれか m本からなる第 1 シースを配置 し、 さらに第 1 シースのまわりに、 m + ( 2 ~ 6 ) 本の鋼素線からなる第 2 シー スを配置した 3層撚り構造の各スチールコードが対象となる力く、 これらの構造に おいて、 スチールコードの撚りを解して得た螺旋状の型付けが付与された各鋼素 線における螺旋の曲率半径 R。 と、 この鋼素線の螺旋内側の表層を溶解除去した 後の螺旋の曲率半径 との比を所定の範囲とすることが、 肝要である。
図 1 (a) にコードの撚りを解して得た螺旋状の型付けが付与された鋼素線 1を 示すように、 この鋼素線 1の螺旋の曲率半径を R D とし、 次に同図(b) に示すよ うに、 この鋼素線の螺旋内側の表層を溶解除去した後の螺旋の曲率半径を と したとき、 両者の比 R , / R。 が 1未満であることが肝要である。
ここで、 鋼素線の螺旋の曲率半径 R n と、 鋼素線の螺旋内側の表層を溶解除去 した後の螺旋の曲率半径を との比を限定するのは、 鋼素線の表層域における 応力分布を適正化して、 鋼素線の螺旋内側の表展域における残留応力を圧縮化す るためである。 すなわち、 スチールコードの撚りを解して得た鋼素線には、 螺旋 状の型付けが付与されている。 これは、 伸線工程で当初真直であった鋼素線を、 撚り線工程にてコードに撚り合わす際に、 鋼素線が塑性変形する結果、 螺旋伏の 型付けが付与されるのである。 従って、 伸線工程の鋼素線の段階にて、 耐腐食疲 労性に悪影響を及ぼす、 表面引張残留応力を低減しても、 上記した鋼素線を撚り 合わす際の塑性変形により、 とくに螺旋の内側に引張残留応力が不可避に発生す るから、 コードの耐腐食疲労性を改善することは難しいのである。
なお、 表面引張残留応力が耐腐食疲労性を阻害するのは、 まずこの応力が生じ ることにより局部電池化が誘発され、 電気化学的腐食が発生し易い環境が与えら れること、 そして、 この環境の下でフレツティ ングおよび水分に起因して腐食孔 が生じた際、 上記残留応力があると、 この腐食孔に応力が集中して亀裂が容易に 生じること、 による。
そこで、 この発明のコードでは、 鋼素線のとくに螺旋の内側における残留応力 を引張から圧縮側に移行することによって、 耐腐食疲労性を改善するものである 。 そして、 鋼素線の螺旋の内側における残留応力が圧縮側にあることは、 表層を 溶解除去した後の曲率半径 R , が溶解前の曲率半径 R « より小さくなること、 つ まり比 Z R。 が 1未満であることで定義できることを見出し、 この発明を完 成するに到ったのである。
一般に、 鋼素線の引張強さが上昇するほど鋼素線の弾性限界が上がるため、 塑 性変形処理によつて残留応力を引張から圧縮側に移行することは困難になる。 特 に、 引張強さが ^OON Zram2 以上になると、 塑性変形処理は極めて難しくなる。 これに対して、 発明者らは、 鋼素線における比 R , / R o が 1未満となるコード を得るには、 例えば、 鋼素線を撚り合わせてコードとしたのち、 矯正ローラーに 張力を与えながら通す際に、 ローラ一における鋼素線への曲げ応力 Bと鋼素線へ の引張応力 Tの和びが、 鋼素線の引張強さの 80%以上 100 %未満で、 かつその和 び中に占める Tの割合が 80%以上 95%未満となる処理を行って、 鋼素線の螺旋の 内側における引張残留応力を低減する手法を新たに確立した。 この手法によって 、 従来の塑性変形処理では対応できない引張強さが 4000N Zram2 以上の鋼素線に 対しても、 この発明の適用が可能になったのである。
また、 タイヤ補強用スチールコードでは、 タイヤが車両に装着されて走行する 際に繰り返し曲げを受けてスチールコードを構成する鋼素線同士がフレツティ ン グによって磨耗するため、 さらに腐食疲労し易くなる。 従って、 タイヤの補強に 供するスチールコードは、 素線直径の 5 %に相当する表層を溶解除去した後のら せんの曲率半径が上記した関係を満足することが好ましく、 同 10%に相当する表 層を溶解除去した後の螺旋の曲率半径が上記した関係を満足することがより好ま しい。 つまり、 鋼素線の表面から素線直径の 5 %、 より好ましくは 10%に相当す る深さまでの引張残留応力を、 極力小さくするのである。
ところが、 フレツティ ングによる磨耗の進行が速い場合には、 機械的磨滅が腐 食に先行するため、 上記の螺旋内側表層の引張残留応力の低減域が早期に磨滅し て消失する結果、 引張残留応力の低減効果が発揮されない、 おそれがある。 従つ て、 曲率半径の比 R , / R o を 1未満とする技術を適用するコードは、 フレツテ ィ ングが発生しないか、 発生しても非常に緩やかである、 構造のものに適用する こと力《、 肝要になる。
そこで、 この発明では、 上記した単撚り構造、 2暦または 3層撚り構造のコー ドにおいて、 単撚り構造では隣接鋼素線間の隙間が、 そして層撚り構造ではシ一 スにおける隣接鋼素線間の隙間が、 それぞれ平均値で 0. 02mm以上かつ鋼素線直径 の 1. 5 倍以下であること、 さらにコ一ド外周面にラッビングワイヤを巻き付けな いこと、 によって、 フレツティ ングを回避して、 曲率半径の比 R , Z R。 を 1未 满として引張残留応力を低減する効果を、 十分に発揮させることとした。
すなわち、 この発明のスチールコードは、 ゴム物品の補強材として使用する際 のゴムの浸入性ゃ耐疲労性の観点から、 適切な撚り構造を採用する必要があり、 上述した、 鋼素線を 3 ~ 6本撚り合わせた単撚り構造、 鋼素線の 1〜4本のいず れか n本からなるコアのまわりに、 n + ( 2 ~ 6 ) 本の鋼素線からなるシースを 配置した 2層撚り構造、 または 1本の鋼素線からなるコアのまわりに、 鋼素線の 3〜6本のいずれか m本からなる第 1 シースを配置し、 さらに第 1 シースのまわ りに、 m + ( 2〜6 ) 本の鋼素線からなる第 2 シースを配置した 3層撚り構造の 各スチールコードが対象となる。
例えば、 図 2に示す 1 X 5構造に代表される単燃り構造、 あるいは図 3 (a) ~ (d) に示す各種の層撚り構造が推奨される。 いずれのコードにおいても、 ラッピ ングワイヤを巻き付けないことが、 特徴である。 なお、 図 3において、 符号 2は コア、 そして 3および 4はシースである。
これらのコード構造は、 ゴムの浸入性を満たしつつ耐疲労性を改善すること、 コード断面内の鋼素線充通率を上昇して、 所望のコ一ド強力を最小限のコ一ド径 で得ること、 において有効である。 従って、 2層撚りスチールコードにおける、 コアを構成する鋼素線の本数は、 内部に空間をもたない 1本又は 2本、 或いは内 部空間の小さい 3本とすることが好ましい。
さらに、 ゴムの浸入を確実にはかってフレツティ ングを回避するために、 図 2 に示す、 単撚り構造においては各隣接鋼素線間の隙間 t、 同様に図 3に示す、 層 燃り構造においてはシースを構成する各隣接鋼素線間の隙間 t、 を平均値で 0. 02 ram以上かつ鋼素線直径の 1. 5 倍以下とすることが、 好ましい。
なぜなら、 隙間 tが 0. 02膽未満では、 タイヤ加硫時にコードの内部にまでゴム を浸入させることが難しく、 一方、 素線径の 1. 5 倍をこえると、 鋼素線の配置に 乱れが生じて耐疲労性が低下する上、 コード外接円断面内の素線の充塡率が低く なってコード強力が不足するか、 あるいはコード径が大きくなる結果、 タイヤの カーカスやベル卜の構成材となる トリ一ト材 (複数の並列したスチールコードの ゴム引き布) が厚くなってタイヤの軽量化に不利となる。
ここに、 スチールコードを構成する鋼素線は、 引張強さを 4000~4800 N /匪2 とする。 すなわち、 4000 N Zram2 未満になると、 コード強力が不足してタイヤ強 度を維持した上で軽童化することができない。 また、 コード強力を維持するため にコードを構成する鋼素線径を太くすると、 いわゆるランフラッ ト走行に代表さ れるような低内圧走行などにおいて、 コードに大曲げ入力があった場合に、 コ一 ドを構成する鋼素線の初期破断が発生し易くなる。 そして、 このような伏態の夕 ィャに再度空気を充填して使用すると、 タイヤバース卜を誘発する可能性が高く なる。 この点、 鋼素線の引張強さを 4000 N /画2 以上にすることによって、 鋼素 線の径を小さくすることができ、 ひいてはタイヤの低内圧時の性能を向上して安 全性を高めることができる。 一方、 鋼素線の引張強さが 4800N Zmm2 をこえると伸線生産性が著しく低下し 、 また得られた鋼素線が延性に乏しいものとなる。
鋼素線は、 引張強さを 4000〜4800N Zmm2 とするには、 炭素含有置を 0. 7 重蕭 %以上、 好ましくは 0. 75重量%以上とすることが有利であり、 一方炭素含有量が 0. 95重 S%をこえると、 パテンティ ング時に初析セメンタイ 卜が生成して鋼素線 の延性が確保できない。 ちなみに、 コードの価格上昇を抑えるために、 素材には C : 0. 80〜0. 85重量%を含む鋼材を用いるとよい。
鋼素線の直径は、 単撚り構造のコードにおいて、 0. 15mm未満になると鋼素線の 引張り強さが上昇するものの伸線工程での生産性が低下して経済的でなく、 一方 0. 28 をこえると繰り返し曲げ疲労性が悪化するとともにスチールコードの曲げ 剛性が大きくなり過ぎて、 タイヤ成型時の加工、 特にビード部の加工が困難とな る。 また、 層燃り構造のコードでは、 コードを構成する鋼素線の本数が単撚り構 造のコードに比絞して多いため、 鋼素線を細く してもタイヤ強度の維持が可能で あるから、 鋼素線の直径を 0. 23隨以下とすることによって、 上述した鋼素線の直 径が太い場合の不利を回避できる。 ちなみに、 鋼素線の直径は同一とする必要は 無いが、 同一とすることによって生産性を高めることができる。
さらに、 この発明では、 単撚りスチールコードは勿論のこと雇撚りスチールコ 一ドにおいてもスチールコードの外周面に巻き付けるラッビングワイヤを使用し ないため、 最外層の鋼素線とラッビングワイヤとの間のフレッティ ングを防止す ることができるから、 タイヤを長期間使用してもコ一ド強力の低下を極めて少な くすることができ、 また、 コードの直径が小さくなるためにタイヤの軽 S化に有 利に働く。
上記のスチールコードは、 1対のビード部間でトロイ ド状に延びるカーカスを 骨格とし、 さらにカーカスのクラウン部を少なく とも 2層のベル卜で捕強した空 気入りラジアルタイヤにおいて、 該カーカスおよびベル卜の少なくともいずれか —方の補強材として用いることによって、 タイヤの特性を向上することができる ( とりわけ、 タイヤの力一カスに用いる場合は、 カーカスの素材となる 卜リート 材における隣接コード間隔が 0. 6 〜0. 9 mmとなる、 スチールコードを適用するこ とが好ましい。 具体的には、 主にタイヤの仕様によって決定される、 50譲幅当た りの設定強力 Tに対して、 スチールコー ドの直径 d (mm) およびコード強力が
0. 6 ≤ (50 xコード強力/ T ) - d≤0. 9
の関係を満足する、 スチールコードを、 適用することが好ましい。 すなわち、 ス チールコ一ドの直径およびコード強力が上式を満足するように、 鋼素線の直径お よび引張り強さとコード構造とを適宜決定すればよい。
これは、 タイヤの製造において、 グリーンタイヤが加硫時に拡張した後の製品 タイヤのカーカスにおける、 隣接スチールコードの間隔を適正範囲にすることに よって、 カーカスの耐久性を向上するためである。 すなわち、 (50 Xコード強力 / T ) _ dで表せる、 ト リ一ト材のコー ド間隔が 0. 6 讓未満では、 タイヤ走行時 のビ一ド部付近のカーカス端部のゴムの剪断応力が大きくなり過ぎてコード間の ゴムに亀裂が発生し易くなる上、 コ一ドとゴムとの間の接着破壊も起こり易くな る。 一方、 0. 9 mmをこえると、 タイヤに空気を充填した際にコード間のゴムが夕 ィャ外側に脹れる結果、 タイヤ走行時にコード間ゴムでの発熱が大きくなつて、 高速耐久性が低下する。

発明を実施するための最良の形態
C : 0. 70~0. 85重量%、 S i: 0. 23重量%、 Mn: 0. 49重量%: P : 0. 006 重量% および S : 0. 008 重量%を含む組成に成る鋼線材 (直径: 5. 5 mm) に、 乾式伸線 を行った後、 パテンテイ ング処理およびブラスめつきを施してから、 湿式伸線に よる伸線加工を行い、 表 1 ~4に示す、 種々の直径および引張強さの鋼素線を製 造した。
次いで、 チューブラー撚線機またはバンチヤ一撚線機を用いた通常の方法によ つて、 表 1〜4に示す、 種々の構造のスチールコードを作製した。 そして、 チュ 一ブラ一撚線機にて作製したスチールコードは、 スチールコードを構成する網素 線の螺旋内側の引張残留応力を低減するために、 大径の矯正ローラーを 2個以上 千鳥足状に配匿し、 これら矯正ローラーにスチールコードを通常よりも高い引張 応力の下に通す処理を施した。 また、 バンチヤ一撚線機を用いてスチールコード を作製する場合は、 その鋼素線に捩じりを加えながら燃り合わせる過程において 、 通常よりも高い引張応力を与える処理を行った。 そして、 これらの処理の条件 を適宜変更することによって、 鋼素線における R, /R。 を種々に変化させた。 すなわち、 チューブラー撚線機にて作製したスチールコードに施す上記処理に ついて、 表 1に発明例 1として示した 3 + 8 x0.19MIのスチールコードの場合を 例に具体的に示すと、 このコードは、 直径が 60顏の矯正ローラ一を少なくとも 2 個、 好ましくは 3個以上千鳥足状に配置し、 これら矯正ローラーに引張応力: 29 00N/mm2 の下に通して、 R, /Ro を 1未満とした。 一方、 同じスチールコー ドを用いた比較例 4では、 直径が 10mmの矯正ローラーを 2個あるいは 3個以上千 鳥足状に配置し、 これら矯正ローラーに引張応力: 660 N/mm2 の下にコードを 通したところ、 R, ZR。 は 1未満にならず、 鋼素線の螺旋内側の引張残留応力 は十分に低減されなかった。
また、 発明例 1に対してバンチヤ一撚線機を用いる場合は、 鋼素線を束ねて撚 り合わせる際に、 シースとなる鋼素線に 830 N/mra2 の引張応力を付与すること によって、 鋼素線の Ri /Ro は 1未満となった。 一方、 シースの撚り合わせを 従来の 290 N/mmz 程度の引張応力の下で行うと、 R> /Ro を 1未満にするこ とはできなかったが、 その後に上記した矯正ローラによる処理を行うことによつ て、 R, /Ro は 1未満となった。 ここで、 発明例 1で使用した 0.19πιπιの細径でかつ引張強さが ^ZONZmm2 と高 強力の鋼素線は、 例えばブラスめつきを施した引張強さが 1275ΝΖπ»π2 の線材を 伸線加工するに当たり、 各パスで設定する、 下記式(1) で表される真の歪 εが 0. 75未満の伸線加工で使用するダイスは、 下記式(2) で表される減面率を
(22.67 ε + 3 ) 〜29%に調整し、 同様に真の歪 εが 0.75〜2.25の伸線加工で使 用するダイスは減面率を 20〜29%に、 および真の歪 εが 2.25をこえる伸線加工で 使用するダイスは減面率を (一 5·56ε +32.5) 〜 (— 6.22e +43) %に、 それぞ れ調整するパススケジュールにて、 より具体的には表 5に示すダイスのパススケ ジュールに従う、 全減面率が 98.3%となる湿式伸線により得ることができる。

かく して得られたスチールコードを、 図 4に示すタイヤのカーカス 5にタイヤ の赤道に対する傾斜角度 90° で適用し、 サイズ 11Z70 R 22.5 (14PR) のトラッ ク ·バス用ラジアルタイヤを種々試作した。 なお、 図 4において、 6は 4層から なるベルトおよび 7はビードコアである。 各タイヤは、 1996年度 JATMA YEAR B0 OKにおける、 当該サイズの標準リムに組み込み後、 同 JATMA YEAR BOOKにおける 、 適用サイズおよびプライレーティ ングでの最大負荷能力に対する空気圧を充塡 し、 ゴム浸入性、 コード強力保持率、 耐腐食疲労性および大曲げ入力時の鋼素線 破断率に関する各穂の試験に供した。
すなわち、 ゴム浸入性は、 加硫後のタイヤからスチールコードを抜き出し、 単 撚りスチールコ一ドの場合は各鋼素線の表面について、 層撚りスチールコ一ドの 場合はコアの表面について、 ゴムが被覆された部分のスチールコードの全長に対 する比率を求めて、 この比率が 90〜100 %であれば◎、 80〜89%であれば〇、 79 %以下は Xとして表示した。 なお、 80%以上であれば実用上問題はない。
コード強力保持率は、 供試タイヤに設計常用荷重を負荷してドラム上で 10万 km 走行させた後、 そのタイヤから取り出したスチールコードの強力を測定し、 同一 仕様の新品タイヤから取り出したスチールコードの強力との比を百分率として箅 出し、 評価した。 この数値が大きいほど良好な結果を示す。
耐腐食疲労性は、 供試タイヤをリムに組み付けるに先立って、 タイヤ内部に 30 0 ccの水を注入し、 その後は上記と同様にドラム走行を行って、 各供試タイヤの カーカスにおいてスチールコ一ド切れ (C B U ) による故障が発生するまでの走 行距離を測定し、 コン トロールタイヤ (表 1の従来例) での走行距離を 100 とし たときの指数を求めて評価した。 この場合も、 数値が大きいほど良好な結果を示 す。
大曲げ入力時の鋼素線破断率は、 タイヤをドラム上で走行させて、 その空気圧 を l kgf /cm2 (ホッ 卜状態) に調整してから、 最大負荷能力に相当する荷重を 負荷する大曲げ入力条件下にて、 5000kmのドラム走行を行ったのち、 タイヤを解 剖してカーカスから 10本のスチールコードを採取し、 そのうちの破断した鋼素線 の本数を調査し、 コントロールタイヤ (表 1では従来例, 表 2では比絞例 5 , 表 3では比絞例 6 , 表 4では比較例 7 ) での破断本数を 100 としたときの指数を求 めて評価した。 この場合は、 数値が小さいほど良好な結果を示す。
鋼素線の曲率半径比 / R o は、 コードの燃りを解して得た螺旋伏の型付け が付与された鋼素線のうちコード最外層を構成する鋼素線について、 100讓長さ に切断し、 素線周面の半円周部分にエナメルを塗布し、 次いで 50%硝酸水溶液に 浸演してエナメルを塗布していない残りの半円周部分を素線直径の 3 %および 10 %に相当する深さまで溶解する各処理を行い、 この溶解の前後における曲率半径 を測定して算出した。
コード間隔は、 タィャに成形される前のトリ一ト材において、 図 5に示すよう に測定した。 さらに、 コード使用重量は、 タイヤのカーカス中に埋設されたコー ド重量について、 コントロールタイヤ (表 1の従来例) を 100 としたときの指数 で表示したものであり、 数値が小さいほど軽量化の点で優れていることを示す。 以上の各調査結果について、 表 1〜4に併記する。 なお、 表 1にはコアが 3本 からなる 2層撚り構造のスチールコードの従来例、 比較例および発明例を、 表 2 にはコアが 2本からなる 2層撚り構造のスチールコードの比較例および発明例を 、 表 3には単燃り構造のスチールコードの比較例および発明例を、 そして表 4に はコアが 1本からなる 3層撚り構造のスチールコードの比較例および発明例を、 それぞれ示した。

表 1 ~ 4に示すように、 この発明に従うコ一ドを使用したタイヤは、 耐腐食疲 労性に優れる上、 特にフレツティ ング疲労に対する抵抗力が大幅に向上している ためカーカス強度の保持という点にも優れることが明らかである。 これに対して 、 比絞例 2および 4は単に矯正ローラーを通過させる、 従来方式で表面残留応力 の圧縮化を図ったものであるが、 螺旋内側表層残留応力は実質的に引張りである ため、 発明例 1〜5に比べて耐腐食疲労性の改善は乏しい。 また、 発明例および 比絞例 2は、 鋼素線の引張り強さを高くすることによって、 直接的にスチールコ 一ド使用重 Sを 30%も減少させる効果が得られた。
一方、 比較例 3と発明例 1、 比較例 5と発明例 3、 比較例 6と発明例 4、 そし て比絞例 7と発明例 5は、 コード構造が同じであるが、 鋼素線の引張強さが、 発 明例は 4000N Zmra2 以上であるのに対して比較例は 4000N Zmm2 未満と、 異なる 関係にあるため、 例え R , Z R。 が 1未満であっても、 比铰例は軽量化の点で問 題がある。 しかも、 比較例は発明例と対比して線径が大きいため、 大曲げ入力時 に鋼素線の破断が発生しやすい点も不利である。
産業上の利用可能性
この発明によれば、 コードの耐腐食疲労性を損なうことなく高強力化を達成で きるため、 このコードを特にタイヤに適用することによって、 タイヤの軽量化を 、 優れた耐久性の維持の下に、 はかることが可能である。

Claims

請 求 の 範 囲
1. 引張り強さが 4000〜4800N/mra2 の鋼素線を 3 ~ 6本撚り合わせた単撚り構 造でかつ隣接鋼素線間に隙間を設けたオープンタイプのスチールコードであつ て、 その外周面にラッビングワイヤ一を巻き付けないスチールコードにおいて 、 該スチールコードの撚りを解して得た螺旋状の型付けが付与された各鋼素線 における螺旋の曲率半径 RD と、 この鋼素線の螺旋内側の表眉を溶解除去した 後の螺旋の曲率半径 R, との比 ZR。 が 1未満であることを特徴とするゴ ム物品補強用スチールコー ド。
2. 請求項 1において、 隣接鋼素線間の隙間が平均値で 0.02mm以上かつ鋼素線直 径の 1.5 倍以下であるゴム物品補強用スチールコード。
3. 請求項 1または 2において、 鋼素線は、 炭素含有量: 0.70重量%以上および 直径: 0.15-0.28mmであるゴム物品補強用スチールコー ド。
4. 引張り強さが 4000〜4800NZmm2 の鋼素線の 1〜 4本のいずれか n本からな るコアのまわりに、 引張り強さが 4000~4800NZmra2 の鋼素線の n + ( 2~6 ) 本からなるシースを配置した 2層撚り構造でかつシース隣接鋼素線間に隙間 を設けたゴムぺネ卜レーションタイプのスチールコ一ドであって、 その外周面 にラッ ピングワイヤーを巻き付けないスチールコー ドにおいて、 該スチールコ —ドの撚りを解して得た螺旋状の型付けが付与された各鋼素線における螺旋の 曲率半径 R。 と、 この鋼素線の螺旋内側の表層を溶解除去した後の螺旋の曲率 半径 との比 R, /Ro が 1未満であることを特徴とするゴム物品補強用ス チールコー ド。
5. 引張り強さが 4000〜4800N/mm2 の鋼素線の 1本からなるコアのまわりに、 引張り強さが 4000〜4800N 隱 2 の鋼素線の 3〜 6本のいずれか m本からなる 第 1 シースを配置し、 さらに第 1 シースのまわりに、 引張り強さが 4000~4800 N/mm2 の鋼素線の m+ ( 2 ~ 6 ) 本からなる第 2 シースを配置した 3層撚り 構造でかつシース隣接鋼素線間に隙間を設けたゴムベネトレーシヨンタイプの スチールコードであって、 その外周面にラッビングワイヤ一を巻き付けないス チールコードにおいて、 該スチールコードの撚りを解して得た螺旋伏の型付け が付与された各鋼素線における螺旋の曲率半径 Rn と、 この鋼素線の螺旋内側 の表層を溶解除去した後の螺旋の曲率半径 R , との比 /Ro が 1未満であ ることを特徴とするゴム物品補強用スチールコ一 ド。
6. 請求項 4または 5において、 シースにおける隣接鋼素線間の隙間が平均値で 0.02nmi以上かつ鋼素線直径の 1.5 倍以下であるゴム物品補強用スチールコー ド(
7. 請求項 4、 5または 6において、 鋼素線は、 炭素含有量: 0.70重量%以上お よび直径: 0.15〜0.23mmであるゴム物品補強用スチールコー ド。
8. 請求項 1ないし 7のいずれか 1項において、 鋼素線の螺旋内側の溶解除去す る表層は、 鋼素線の直径の 5 %に相当する深さであるゴム物品補強用スチール コ—ド。
9. 請求項 1ないし 7のいずれか 1項において、 鋼素線の螺旋内側の溶解除去す る表層は、 鋼素線の直径の 10%に相当する深さであるゴム物品補強用スチール コー ド。
1 0. 1対のビード部間でトロイ ド状に延びるカーカスを骨格とし、 さらに力一 カスのクラウン部を少なく とも 2層のベル卜で補強した空気入りタイヤであつ て、 該カーカスおよびベル卜の少なくともいずれか一方を構成するコードに、 請求項 1ないし 9のいずれか 1項に記載のスチールコ一ドを適用してなる空気 入りタイヤ。
