本発明に従えば、 第 2表示部はプリンタ本体に対して着脱自在であるため、 不 要の場合は取り外すことが可能になり、 システム構成の自由度が損なわれない。 また本発明において、 外部ホスト装置から送られるデータが、 印字データおよ び表示データの両方に共用されることが好ましい。
本発明に従えば、 外部ホスト装置から送られたデータを印字データおよび表示 データの両方に共用することによって、 印字内容と表示内容の不一致を確実に防 止できる。 しかも、 同じデータを何回も送信する必要がなくなるため、 データ伝 送レ一卜の向上や伝送時間の短縮化を図ることができる。
また本発明において、 第 2表示部の電力は、 印字部に設けられた電源回路から 供給されることが好ましい。
本発明に従えば、 第 2表示部の電源回路および電源ケーブルを省略できるため、 装置の小型化、 部品点数削減によるコスト低減化が図られる。
また本発明において、 前記印字部は、 単票紙を印字するための第 1印字ュニッ トと、 連続用紙を印字するための第 2印字ュニットとを含むことが好ましい。 本発明に従えば、 単票紙、 連続用紙という複数種の用紙に印字できるため、 た とえばスリップ紙の複写印字とレシート発行とを同時に実行でき、 会計システム 等に好適である。

【発明を実施するための最良の形態】
図 1〜図 4は本発明に係るプリンタを示す斜視図であり、 図 1はカバーを閉じ た状態を左前方から見た斜視図で、 図 2はカバーを開けた状態を左前方から見た 斜視図で、 図 3はカバーを閉じた状態を右後方から見た斜視図で、 図 4はカバー を開けた状態を右後方から見た斜視図である。
図 1において、 プリンタは下部ハウジング 1 0と上部ハウジング 5 0とを有し. 上部ハウジング 5 0には後端側で軸支されるカバー 5 1が取り付けられる。 カバ - 5 1の上面には、 印字された連続用紙し 2を排出する排紙ロ 5 2が形成される, 単票紙 sは複数枚の複写紙等で構成され、 装置の側方に設けられたスリット状 の開口 Wまたは前面側から挿入され、 水平面を有するテーブル 1 1の上にセット した後、 A方向に搬送しながら印字を行って、 印字終了後再び開口 Wまたは前面 側から取り出される。
プリンタの右後部角には、 図 3に示すように、 外部のホスト装置より指示され たデータを表示する表示部 6 1を有する表示パネル 6 0が後方に向けて設置され る。 表示パネル 6 0は着脱自在かつ首振り自在に取り付けられ、 たとえばアリン タが会計カウンタに設置された場合に、 後側に向けて客側の確認用として用いら れる。 表示部 6 1は、 ドットマトリクスや 7セグメントの液晶パネルや発光ダイ オードアレイ等で構成される。
下部ハウジング 1 0の上面でテーブル 1 1の前右方には、 操作パネ/レ 7 0が設 けられ、 メンブレン型のスィッチ 7 1、 7 2や発光ダイオード等の表示ランプ 7 3〜7 5が配置される。 これらの機能に関して、 スィツチ 7 1を押すとレシート 発行動作を開始し、 スィッチ 7 2を押すと単票紙 Sの印字動作を開始する。 また、 表示ランプ 7 3の連続点灯はァリンタの通電状態を示し、 その点滅は単票紙 Sの 搬入状態を示す。 表示ランプ 7 4の連続点灯は単票紙 Sの搬出状態を示し、 その 点滅はプリンタの警告を示す。 表示ランプ 7 5の連続点灯は単票紙 Sのリリース 状態を示し、 その点滅は外部ホス卜装置とのオフライン状態を示す。
図 2に示すように、 テーブル 1 1の上方にはィンパクト方式の印字へッドを有 する印字ュニット 2 0が設けられ、 リボンカセット 2 1が着脱自在に取り付けら れる。 印字ユニット 2 0の上方には、 感熱記録方式の印字ユニット 3 0が設けら れ、 さらにその上に印字ュニット 3 0で印字された連続用紙 L 2をカツトする力 ッタュニット 3 1が角変位自在に取り付けられる。 カバー 5 1を開けると広いス ペースが確保されており、 そこには印字ュニット 3◦に連続用紙 L 2を供給する ロール紙 L 1が着脱自在に装填される。
図 5は、 プリンタの内部構造図である。 単票紙 Sを支持するテーブル 1 1が水 平に設置される。 単票紙 Sの移送経路の途中には、 単票紙 Sの有無およびエッジ を検知する透過型のフォトセンサ P Sと、 単票紙 Sを前後方向に搬送するための ローラ 2 6、 2 7と、 印字へッド 2 2に対向するプラテン 2 5などが設置されて いる。 ローラ 2 6、 2 7は伝達機構 (不図示) を介してモータ 2 8で駆動される。 印字ヘッド 2 2は、 単票紙 Sの幅方向 (紙面垂直) に往復移動可能なようにガイ ド 2 3によって保持され、 伝達機構 (不図示) を介してモータ 2 4で駆動される。 こうして構成された印字ュニット 2 0は、 垂直フレーム 1 3の前側に取り付けら れる。
感熱記録を行う印字ュニット 3 0は、 印字ュニット 2 0の上方となるように垂 直フレーム 1 3に取り付けられ、 内部にライン型サ一マルへッドから成る印字へ ッド 3 2およびプラテンローラ 3 3を備える。 印字ュニット 3 0のさらに上方に は、 印字ュニット 3 0から排出される連続用紙 L 2をカットするカツ夕ユニット 3 1が角変位自在に取り付けられ、 内部にカツタ刃 3 1 aが設けられる。 カツタ ユニット 3 1は、 印字ュニット 3 0が連続用紙 L 2の印字を終えると自動的に切 断するため、 ティアバー等を省略できる。
カバー 5 1は角変位自在に軸支されている。 π—ル紙 L 1はカバー 5 1と一体 的に形成されたロール紙保持部材 5 3に保持され、 カバ一 5 1の回転軸と同軸と なるように着脱自在に装填される。 ロール紙 L 1から供給される連続用紙 L 2は、 印字ュニット 3 0および力ッタュニット 3 1を経由して、 カバー 5 1の上面に形 成された排紙ロ 5 2から排出される。
このように単票紙 Sを印字する印字ュニット 3◦の上に連続用紙 L 2を印字す る印字ュニット 3 0を配置することによって、 装置の床面積を大幅に低減できる - また、 垂直フレーム 1 3の裏側にロール紙 L 1を配置し、 印字ュニッ卜 3 0を 2 階建構造の上側に配置することによって、 印字ュニット 3 0とロール紙 L 1との 間隔を長く確保でき、 ロール紙の出入れ操作や連続用紙の揷着操作が容易になる < しかも連続用紙 L 1の排紙ロ 5 2が装置前面に近くかつ高い位置になるため、 レ シートの取出し操作が容易になる。
図 6は、 本発明に係るプリンタを用いたシステム構成を示すブロック図である, ホスト装置 Hはコンピュータ等で構成され、 キーボードやバーコードリーダ等に よるデータ入力や別のホスト装置からのデータ伝送によって、 商品リスト、 商品 単価、 販売個数等の大量のデータを格納している。
プリンタ 8 0とホスト装置 Hとの間は、 R S 2 3 2 Cやイーサ一ネット等のシ リアル伝送方式、 またはセントロニクスゃ S C S I等のパラレル伝送方式の信号 ケーブル Qで接続され、 プリンタ 8 0はこれらの伝送方式に対応したィンタフエ イス 8 6を備えている。 また、 プリンタ 8 0と表示パネル 6 0との間は、 T T L レベルのシリアル伝送方式の信号ケーブル 8 5で接続され、 両者ともこれらの伝 送方式に対応したインタフェイス 8 7、 6 2をそれぞれ備える。 また、 信号ケー ブル 8 5の途中にはコネクタ (不図示) が設けられ、 表示パネル 6 0の着脱操作 に合わせて信号ケーブル 8 5の接続または切断を行う。
プリンタ 8 0は商用電力 (たとえば A C 1 0 0 V ) から電力の供給を受けるた めの電源ュニット 8 4および電源ケーブル Pを有し、 表示パネル 6 0は電源ュニ ット 8 4から電力供給を受ける。
信号ケーブル 8 5によりプリンタ 8 0と表示パネル 6 0の間でデータ送受信並 びに電力の供給が行われる。 プリンタ 8 0と表示パネル 6 0とは単一のコネクタ で接続されているため容易かつ自在に表示パネルの着脱が可能となっている。 図 7は、 プリンタ 8 0の電気的構成を示すブロック図である。 プリンタ 8 0は、 ホスト装置 Hから送られる印字データに基づいて記録媒体に印字を行う印字部 8 1と、 印字部 8 1の動作状態を表示する操作パネル 7 0と、 ホスト装置 Hから印 字部 8 1に送られた表示を指示されたデータを表示する表示パネル 6 0とを一体 的に備えている。
印字部 8 1は、 ホスト装置 Hとの間で信号を送受するインタフェイス 8 6と、 印字部 8 1の動作を所定のプログラムに従って制御する C P U (中央処理装置) 8 8と、 プログラムやデータを格納した R〇M (リードオンリメモリ) 8 9と、 データを一時的に格納する R A M (ランダムアクセスメモリ) 9 0と、 印字機構 部 9 3の動作を制御する制御回路 9 1と、 これらを相互に接続するバス 9 2など で構成される。 表示パネル 6 0との間で信号を送受するインタフェイス 8 7は、 C P U 8 8に直接接続されるように配置される。
印字機楕部 9 3は、 図 5に示すようなィンパクト方式の印字へッド 2 2、 サー マル方式の印字へッド 32、 モータ 24、 28、 力ッタュニット 31、 フォトセ ンサ P S等を有し (図 7では一部省略) 、 これらを駆動するためのドライブ回路 94を備える。
電源ュニット 84は、 電源ケーブル Pを経由して供給される商用電力の電圧変 換および整流を行うための電源回路 83を有し、 印字機構部 93用の電源電圧 V H (たとえば DC 24V) を発生し、 さらに後段の DC— DCコンバータ 82は、 電源電圧 VHを論理回路用の電源電圧 VL (たとえば DC 5 V) に変換して、 印 字部 81および表示パネル 60の論理回路に供給する。
操作パネル 70は、 印字部 81のバス 92と電気的に接続され、 上述のスイツ チ 71、 72から成る操作部と、 表示ランプ 73〜75から成る表示部とを備え る。
表示パネル 6◦は、 印字部 81との間で信号を送受するィンタフヱイス 62と、 表示パネル 60の動作を所定のプログラムに従って制御する C PU 63と、 プロ グラムやデータを格納した R 0 M 64と、 データを一時的に格納する R A M 64 と、 表示部 61の動作を制御する制御回路 65と、 これらを相互に接続するバス 66などで構成される。
図 8は、 プリンタの動作を示すフローチャートである。 まずプリンタの電源が 投入されると、 ステップ s 1においてプリンタ 80を初期化した後、 ステップ s 2でプリンタ 80の動作状態を操作パネル 70に表示する表示データ処理を実行 する。 次にステップ s 3において、 プリンタ 80がビジ一 ( BUSY) 状態にな るまでルーァで待機し、 ホスト装置 Hから何かデータを受信するとプリンタがビ ジ一になる。
ホスト装置 Hが送信する制御コマンドは、 たとえば次のようなフォーマツトで 構成される。
a〉 データ送信コマンド E SC CR n I B OA (なお、 n=00H ( 16進数表記) 、 10H、 03H、 13H)
b ) 表示パネル設定コマンド E SC S
c ) 表示パネル解除コマンド E SC G データ送信コマンドでは、 ホスト装置 Hが A S C I Iコードにおけるエスケー プコード E S Cと復帰コード C Rに続いて、 データの処理内容を示す処理コード nを送った後、 実データを付加している。 ここで、 n = 0 0 Hはレシート印字用 データ、 n = 1 0 Hはレシート印字用および表示パネルの表示用データ、 n = 0 3 Hはスリップ紙印字用データ、 n = 1 3 Hはスリップ紙印字用および表示パネ ルの表示用データであることを示す。
また、 表示パネル専用コマンドとして、 表示パネル設定コマンドおよび表示パ ネル解除コマンドの組合せが用意されており、 ホスト装置 Hがエスケープコード E S Cと文字コード Sを送信した後、 続いて実データを送信し、 最後にエスケー プコード E S Cと文字コード Gを送信することによって、 送信された実データは 表示パネル 6 0だけに表示され、 印字は行われない。
次にステップ s 4において、 ホスト装置 Hのコマンドが印字コマンドを含んで いれば、 ステップ s 5に移行して対応する印字データ処理を実行する。 一方、 ホ スト装置 Hのコマンドが表示パネル 6 0の表示コマンドを含んでいれば、 ステツ プ s 7に移行して対応する表示データ処理を実行する。 その他のコマンドであれ ば、 ステップ s 8でそれぞれ対応する処理を実行した後、 ステップ s 3に戻って 待機する。
こうしてホスト装置 Hから送られたコマンドに対応して、 プリンタは単票紙 S の印字処理、 連続用紙 L 2の印字処理、 表示パネル 6 0の表示処理等を単独ある いは同時並行で実行する。 このとき単票紙 Sや連続用紙 L 2の印字内容を表示パ ネル 6 0に表示することによって、 客の確認作業が簡単かつ確実になる。 また、 データの処理内容を示すコード nが 1 0 Hや 1 3 Hである場合、 ホスト装置 Hか ら送られる実データは印字だけでなく表示にも使われるため、 ホスト装置 Hの負 担を軽減でき、 さらに印字内容と表示内容の不一致を確実に防止することができ る。
【発明の効果】
以上詳説したように本発明によれば、 第 1表示部ではプリンタ操作者に対する 表示、 たとえば紙無し、 紙詰まり、 オンライン一オフライン等を表示し、 一方、 第 2表示部では客等の相手方に対する表示、 たとえば商品リストや金額等の印字 内容を表示することができる。
このような印字部、 第 1表示部、 第 2表示部、 第 1インタフェイス部および第 2インタフェイス部を一体的に備え、 さらに印字部と第 2表示部との間に信号ケ 一ブルや電源ケーブルを接続することによって、 装置全体の小型化、 簡素化、 コ スト低減化を図ることができるのみならず、 ホスト装置の負担軽減と印字内容と 表示内容を確実に一致させることができる。

Claims

請 求 の 範 囲
1、 外部ホスト装置から送られる印字データに基づいて記録媒体に印字を行う ための印字部と、
印字部の動作状態を表示するための第 1表示部と、
外部ホスト装置から印字部に送られた表示データを表示するための第 2表示部 と、
外部ホスト装置と印字部とを電気的に接続し、 信号を送受するための第 1ィン タフエイス部と、
印字部と第 2表示部とを電気的に接続し、 信号を送受するための第 2インタフ ェイス部とを一体的に備えることを特徴とするプリンタ。
2、 第 2表示部は、 プリンタ本体に対して着脱自在に取り付けられることを特 徴とする請求の範囲第 1項記載のプリンタ。
3、 外部ホスト装置から送られるデータが、 印字データおよび表示データの両 方に共用されることを特徴とする請求の範囲第 1項記載のプリンタ。
4、 第 2表示部の電力は、 印字部に設けられた電源回路から供耠されることを 特徴とする請求の範囲第 1項記載のプリンタ。
5、 前記印字部は、 単票紙を印字するための第 1印字ユニットと、 連続用紙を 印字するための第 2印字ュニットとを含むことを特徴とする請求の範囲第 1項〜 第 4項記載のいずれかに記載のァリンタ。
