Abstract

L'invention concerne des matières nanocristallines biocompatibles à base d'apatite. Ces matières, qui présentent une surface spécifique élevée, sont caractérisées par des cristallites dont la taille moyenne varie entre 0,5 et 200 nm, et par de possibles déformations et/ou défauts. Ces matières sont en outre destinées à être utilisées dans les domaines de la chirurgie dentaire et de l'hygiène dentaire, en particulier pour produire des préparations, des solutions, des dentifrices, et des substances permettant de reminéraliser l'émail et la dentine, et pour traiter l'hyperesthésie dentinaire. Ces matières nanostructurées à base d'apatite présentent également des propriétés physiques et chimiques spécifiques, liées à leur nature nanocristalline et à la présence de possibles déformations et/ou défauts. Ainsi, elles affichent par exemple une réactivité chimique superficielle remarquable et une capacité hygrométrique satisfaisante, ce qui permet à ces matières de se recristalliser en raison du caractère métastable du système nanocristallin, et donc de pouvoir être utilisées pour reminéraliser l'émail et la dentine. La taille des grains est par ailleurs suffisante pour permettre à la fois une pénétration mécanique facile et profonde de ces matières à l'intérieur des tubules dentinaires, et une cimentation de la surface intérieure de ceux-ci par gonflement et réaction rapide avec les tissus naturels.
