Abstract

L'invention concerne des matériaux de protection multicouches utilisés pour coudre des vêtements destinés aux pompiers et aux sauveteurs travaillant dans des zones à température élevée et de flammes nues. Ces matériaux peuvent servir à fabriquer des articles tels que capes, housses et couvertures qui doivent manifester une résistance accrue à la chaleur et qui servent aux travaux dans des zones à rayonnement thermique intense et de flammes nues lors de l'extinction d'incendies, y compris de ceux de sources de pétrole, de gaz et d'autres substances en feu. L'objet de l'invention consiste en ce qui suit: un matériau calorifuge comportant un substrat à base de fibres résistant à la chaleur; une couche de matériau hydrofuge avec un revêtement métallisé, ladite couche étant constituée d'un polymère réticulé dont le coefficient de diffusion des liquides est inférieur ou égal à 10-9 g * sec/cm2; et une couche hermétique faite d'un élastomère à base de caoutchoucs. En variante, la couche de matériau hydrofuge est faite d'un matériau poreux sélectionné dans un groupe constitué de polyoléfines, de polymères à base de fluor, de chlore ou de silicium, la taille des pores étant comprise entre 0,01 et 1,0 micromètre. La couche de revêtement métallisé se présente comme une couche d'aluminium, de cuivre ou de nitrure de titane ayant une épaisseur entre 0,05 et 0,25 micromètre. L'invention permet de coudre à partir des matériaux susmentionnés des vêtements de protection plus confortables qui assurent l'évacuation directe, à travers le matériau calorifuge, des vapeurs d'eau exsudées par le corps, qui possèdent de meilleures propriétés ignifuges grâce à une résistance accrue aux flammes nues, qui garantissent le maintien de la résistance des matériaux pendant toute la durée des effets de la chaleur ainsi qu'une plus grande longévité des vêtements et qui permettent de simplifier la structure de l'ensemble de matériaux servant à la confection de vêtements ainsi que d'obtenir de meilleures propriétés d'exploitation de ces vêtements et d'augmenter l'efficacité de leur action protectrice.
